From Nostalgic Escapes to Crime Capers: Bollywood Quartets That Redefined Friendship Ahead of Chaar Yaar Four-member friend groups have delivered some of the most memorable stories in Hindi entertainment. Ahead of the release of the crime drama Chaar Yaar on Prime Video this October 23, here is a look back at Hindi cinema's most iconic quartets. Across the silver screen and modern digital streaming platforms, stories revolving around a tight-knit quartet of companions have consistently struck a powerful chord with audiences. Whether it involves cherishing unforgettable memories on a holiday or chasing quirky schemes to strike it rich overnight, these ensembles showcase dynamics that feel remarkably genuine. Every real-life friendship circle contains distinct personalities, where one individual meticulously plans every adventure while another remains perpetually immersed in playful antics. When such contrasting temperaments unite, they create cinematic journeys that linger in popular memory for decades. Continuing this cherished tradition of four-friend narratives, Prime Video is set to introduce a fresh quartet through its upcoming series titled Chaar Yaar. This upcoming release offers an opportune moment to revisit cinema's most iconic four-friend groups that captured the essence of companionship through varied lenses. Balancing Ambition and Connection in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani The 2013 blockbuster Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani immortalized the bond between Bunny, Naina, Avi, and Aditi, securing their status as one of the most beloved quartets in popular culture. Their journey, which begins amidst the scenic mountain trails of Manali, evolves steadily as the characters navigate the realities of adulthood. Portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin, these four friends show that genuine bonds endure despite demanding professional ambitions and changing personal trajectories. Rather than merely showcasing lighthearted camaraderie, the film delves deeply into the ongoing tug-of-war between chasing individual passions and nurturing lifelong relationships. Bunny embodies the relentless drive for global travel and ambition, whereas Naina gradually uncovers her self-worth and confidence. Concurrently, Avi represents the emotional urge to share every phase of life with his inner circle, while Aditi embarks on an emotional process of self-acceptance. These distinct dimensions resonate strongly with youthful audiences. When the four characters reunite years later at an elaborate destination wedding, the narrative reaffirms that true friendship readily regains its original warmth and laughter regardless of the intervening passage of time. Quirky Ambitions and Misadventures in Fukrey When the youthful pursuit of wealth crosses paths with bizarre luck, it yields the eccentric universe of Fukrey. The comedic chemistry among Hunny, Choocha, Zafar, and Lali turned the four characters into household favorites. Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Manjot Singh brought these roles to life with sharp comedic timing. Driven by the desire to accumulate quick wealth, the quartet repeatedly orchestrates offbeat plans that inevitably invite chaotic consequences. Their peculiar schemes and the hilarious predicaments that follow define the special flavor of their mutual loyalty. Unfiltered Bonds and Mutual Support in Veere Di Wedding Offering a frank and progressive look at female camaraderie, Veere Di Wedding presented the interconnected lives of Kalindi, Avni, Sakshi, and Meera. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania starred as four lifelong confidantes navigating modern relationships, societal pressures, and personal crises. While the group never hesitates to critique or call out one another, their unwavering solidarity comes to the forefront whenever any member encounters personal turbulence, ensuring they stand as an immovable rock of support. Chaos and Camaraderie in Dhamaal In the slapstick comedy genre, few on-screen groups rival the sheer madness of Roy, Aditya, Manav, and Boman from the cult classic Dhamaal. Embarking on a frantic pursuit of a hidden stash worth crores of rupees, the four friends operate in their own peculiar sphere of logic. Manav's naive blunders and the resulting exasperation of his companions consistently delivered uproarious laughter across theaters. Throughout their chaotic treasure hunt, each character contributes to compounding the confusion, yet their unity remains intact in moments of real crisis, cementing their legendary status in comedic cinema. Enduring Squabbles and Inseparable Ties in Golmaal The iconic quartet of Gopal, Lucky, Madhav, and Laxman established a benchmark for chaotic situational humor in the long-running Golmaal series. These inseparable companions possess a knack for stumbling into one crisis after another, frequently triggered by their own short-sighted plans and miscommunications. Despite persistent squabbling, mutual suspicion, and numerous personality clashes, the four characters remain entirely incapable of existing apart from one another. Their bizarre synergy and humorous clashes continue to offer unmatched entertainment value.
