Bollywood star Salman Khan has approached the Delhi High Court over the proposed film 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy'. The actor has filed a petition seeking a halt on the making and release of the film. He alleges that the film's poster amounts to a blatant violation of his personality rights, and that his name, image and public identity are being used commercially without his permission. Taking immediate cognisance of the petition, the High Court has acted against the makers associated with the film and issued them a notice.

## When Is the Next Hearing?

Hearing the petition filed by the actor, which seeks to stop the release of 'Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy', the court has sought a response from the film's makers. The bench headed by Justice Meena Bansal Krishna issued a notice to the film's producer Amit Jani and others. The court has fixed June 19 as the date for the next hearing in the matter. During the proceedings, the counsel appearing for Salman Khan argued that the proposed film infringes upon the actor's fundamental rights and personality rights. According to the lawyer, the film is openly using Salman Khan's identity and image.

## What Is Salman Khan's Stand?

Salman Khan had sought an interim injunction against producer Amit Jani, Jani Firefox Films, Bharat Shrinet, Akshay Pandey and others associated with the film. He contends that elements linked to his identity are being used in the film's poster, teaser and social media promotion. The petition claims that the character shown in the poster bears a strong resemblance to Salman Khan. In the poster, the man is depicted wearing a bracelet similar to Salman's famous blue bracelet and holding a gun. The actor argues that this leads people to believe the film is based on him. He also pointed out that he has already been granted relief by the court in the Arms Act case, yet showing an image resembling him with a gun in the poster conveys a misleading message.

## Fears of Impact on Pending Cases

In his petition, Salman Khan has also stated that some cases related to the Kala Hiran (blackbuck) matter are still pending before the Rajasthan High Court and the Supreme Court. In such a situation, making and promoting a film on this subject could influence the judicial process. He argues that the film is an attempt to shape public opinion in advance. The petition further notes that in November 2025, the Delhi High Court, while protecting Salman Khan's personality rights, had ordered that his picture, name, voice or identity associated with him cannot be used without permission. The actor alleges that the proposed film violates that very order.

## Promotion Continued Even After Legal Notice

According to Salman Khan, a legal notice was sent to those associated with the film in April 2026, yet the promotion of the film continued unabated. The petition claims that producer Amit Jani himself admitted, through several posts and videos on social media, that the film is based on the Kala Hiran case and incidents linked to Salman Khan. The actor has urged the court to immediately restrain the making, shooting, promotion, distribution, streaming and release of the film. He has also demanded that, until the final disposal of the case, the circulation of the film's story, script, poster, casting and other promotional material be barred.

## Salman Khan's Upcoming Films

Talking about Salman Khan's work front, he will soon be seen alongside Chitrangda Singh in 'Matrubhumi'. The film was earlier titled 'Battle of Galwan', which was later changed, and several glimpses of it have already surfaced. Apart from this, a superhero film is also in his pipeline, whose poster was released just a few days ago. Before this, the actor was seen in 'Sikandar', which failed to do much business at the box office. In that film, Salman Khan shared screen space with Rashmika Mandanna.
