# 'There Was No Romance on Set': Co-Star Recalls How Director's Aura Turned Ranbir and Katrina Into Obedient Kids

Ranbir Kapoor has stayed in the spotlight not just for his films but also for his much-talked-about relationships. After Deepika Padukone, his longest association was with Katrina Kaif. It is widely believed that the closeness between the two stars first took root on the set of the 2009 superhit 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani'. But now Vishwanath, a co-star who worked with both of them in that very film, has made a big and surprising revelation about the pair.

When Siddharth Kannan asked Vishwanath in an interview about any on-set romance between Ranbir and Katrina, he turned the idea down outright. He said that, brother, nothing of the sort that people imagine was actually happening on the set. He explained that the film's director, Rajkumar Santoshi ji, was always present on the set, and his presence was no less than that of a lion, so no one ever dared to step out of line.

Laughing, Vishwanath said that in front of Santoshi sir, every artist behaved like a perfectly well-mannered and obedient child. The director was so serious about his story and characters that he kept everyone completely immersed in the work. Even so, he looked after the entire team with great affection, which is why the set always had a wonderful working atmosphere.

During the interview, Vishwanath was full of praise for Katrina Kaif's dedication to her craft. He said that all of them, including Ranbir Kapoor and the other friends present on the set, were left stunned watching Katrina's dedication and her physical fitness. Katrina stayed two steps ahead of everyone else in every respect, which is why everyone respected her.

Recalling an old incident, Vishwanath shared that there was a scene in the film in which the cast had to get off a boat and climb up to a bridge using a ladder. Katrina showed such agility that she was the first in the entire team to reach the top. It was not just about fitness — she had also worked day and night on her Hindi and her dialogue delivery. At that time, Katrina's dedication was at the very top within the whole team.

After the film, Ranbir and Katrina initially kept describing themselves merely as good friends, but their repeated holidays together and appearances at family functions gradually confirmed their affair. Audiences also saw the pair together in big films like 'Rajneeti' and 'Jagga Jasoos', where their on-screen chemistry was loved by many.

Around 2014-15, reports of the two stars being in a live-in relationship began to surface. Rumours of them tying the knot also started gaining ground. After spending several years together, the relationship suddenly turned sour. In 2016 the two broke up, though neither of them ever revealed the real reason for their separation to the world.
