The case dates back to 03 August 2022. On that day, a group of people in Barakhad village stopped a truck loaded with cattle on the suspicion that it was being used for cow smuggling. Nazir Ahmed and a few others were travelling in that same truck. The mob allegedly attacked them, leaving Nazir Ahmed dead and two other people injured. The beating was so severe that Nazir Ahmed could not survive.

After the incident came to light, police booked 14 people as accused and launched an investigation. The trial then ran in court for roughly three years. On Friday, the court of ADJ Tabassum Khan concluded the proceedings, held all 14 accused guilty, and awarded each of them life imprisonment.
