Khushboo Tomar, originally from Morena, was married to Ramu Tomar, a resident of Bhind, and the couple has three children. Roughly a year and a half ago, Khushboo left her husband and children and moved to Kanpur with her lover, Ramvendra Singh Bhadauria, who also hails from Bhind. Her husband Ramu lodged a complaint and escalated the matter to the High Court, where he filed a habeas corpus petition.

She Chose Her Lover in Court, Then a Film-Style Abduction
On Friday, police recovered Khushboo from Kanpur and produced her before the High Court. In court, Khushboo accused her husband Ramu of drinking and assaulting her, and made it clear she wished to live with her lover Ramvendra. The court accordingly granted her the freedom to live as she chose.

After the hearing, Khushboo was returning with her lover Ramvendra. As the two reached the spot in front of Madhav Nagar Gate, her husband Ramu Tomar arrived in an Eeco car along with his associates Sumit, Kalli and Juli. They allegedly beat up the lover, forced Khushboo into the car and sped away. The abduction of the mother of three played out like a scene from a film and turned the high-profile case even more sensational.

Lover Claims a Court Marriage and That She Is 6 Months Pregnant
Following the incident, the lover Ramvendra went to the Jhansi Road police station and filed an abduction complaint. He says he and Khushboo have been in touch for the past 1 year and that the two have done a court marriage. According to Ramvendra, they are now husband and wife and Khushboo is 6 months pregnant.

Under Pressure, the Woman Takes a U-Turn
After she suddenly went missing from Gwalior, police kept up the pressure on the case. Jhansi Road station in-charge Shakti Singh acted swiftly, spoke to her, and advised her to reach the nearest police station. Khushboo then turned up at the Devgarh police station in Morena district. As soon as the information came in, the Jhansi Road police rushed to Devgarh and brought the woman back to Gwalior.

In front of the police officers, Khushboo took a complete U-turn. She told the officials that she no longer wants to live with her lover, but instead wishes to stay with her husband Ramu Tomar and all three of her children.

Her Statement Under Section 164 to Be Recorded Next
According to the Jhansi Road station in-charge, the woman is safe and has herself expressed the wish to live with her husband and children. Since the matter is connected to the High Court and an abduction complaint has already been registered, police will now have Khushboo's statement recorded in court under Section 164, so that her actual position is placed on the legal record.
