A disturbing case of betrayal in the name of love has surfaced in Gwalior, where a young woman alleges that her neighbour dangled the promise of marriage to sexually exploit her for years — starting when she was still a minor — and then turned violent and severed all ties the moment she asked him to keep his word. The 21-year-old has now filed a rape case against her boyfriend, accusing him of assaulting her under the false pretext of marriage.

## How It Began
The complainant belongs to Bahangikhurd village under the Bijoli police station limits. According to the FIR she lodged at Murar police station, in 2020 — when she was only 15 — she was living with her sister and brother-in-law in Khureri. It was during this period that she came to know Vikas Narwaria, who lived nearby. She says that on 1 September 2020, Vikas took her to his house, and that is where he first established physical relations with her. When she resisted, he reassured her with a promise of marriage and forced himself on her.

## Six Years of False Assurances
As per her statement, Vikas kept up physical relations with her from 2020 onwards, repeatedly using the promise of marriage as leverage. This went on for years, with the last such incident, she says, taking place on 26 April 2026 at Hotel JS Palace in the Pintu Park area of Gwalior. In all, the abuse that began when she was a minor continued for roughly six years.

## His Stance Changed Once She Came of Age
The woman says that for the past one year she had been pressing Vikas to marry her. She told him that both of them were now adults and that, as promised, they should get married. But it was at this point that things took a turn — when she raised the question of marriage, Vikas beat her and flatly refused to marry her. He then cut off all contact with her.

## Police Register Case Under POCSO Act
Acting on her complaint, Murar police have registered a case against Vikas under the POCSO Act along with other sections and launched a search for the accused. Murar CSP Atul Soni said, "The victim has stated that she was being sexually abused from the time she was 15 years old. Police have registered the case on the basis of the victim's statements." Because the woman was a minor when the abuse began, sections of the POCSO Act have been invoked in the case.
