The administration's grip on the illegal sand business in Narsinghpur district keeps tightening. As part of this drive, a joint team of the mining and revenue departments carried out a major operation in Sankal village of Gotegaon tehsil and seized around 75 cubic metres of sand that had been illegally dumped along the roadside. During the inspection, the team found about 25 trolleys of sand stored without any valid permission or documents. A case was then prepared on the spot against unidentified persons and the sand-laden trolleys were seized. This action was carried out under the campaign against illegal excavation, transport and storage being run in the district under the direction of Collector Rajni Singh. The administration says strict surveillance is being kept on mining mafias, and joint action to curb such illegal trade across the district will continue in the days ahead.
