Atul Mahto, a resident of Kumri village, says the self-manifested Shivling and ancient religious marks present at the ghat have existed here for several generations. According to what the village elders recount, the religious significance of this spot is very old. Every year in the month of Chaiti, a grand Barni fair is held here, where large numbers of devotees from Bokaro as well as many neighbouring districts gather to offer prayers.

## The Belief: Gods Once Rested Here
Local villager Vishal Rai explains that Barni Ghat is not merely a place of worship but also a hub of folklore and ancient beliefs. There is a firmly held conviction among the people here that in some ancient age, gods and goddesses rested at this very spot. It is believed that their footprints became imprinted on the rocks at that time, and devotees still worship these as charan paduka today. Moreover, the presence of multiple Shivlings at a single location sets this ghat apart from other religious sites.

## A Major Centre of Devotees' Faith
The Omkareshwar temple within the ghat complex is also an important centre of devotees' faith. Prayers are performed here daily with full rituals, and people arrive from distant places for darshan. To reach Barni Ghat, devotees and tourists can easily travel by road up to Kumri village.
