"content": "Commuters in Noida who battle traffic jams every day have some good news coming their way. The Noida Authority is preparing to build a 6 kilometre long, 6 lane elevated road that will run from the Rajnigandha underpass to Uplex in Sector 60. The entire project is estimated to cost around Rs 700 crore.\n\nWho stands to benefit the most?\nOnce the elevated road is ready, commuting between Sector 95, DND, Sector 57, Sector 60 and the surrounding industrial areas will become significantly easier. Thousands of people who travel these routes every single day are expected to get major relief from the traffic snarls that currently slow them down.\n\nIIT Roorkee brought in as consultant for Rs 3.5 crore\nThe Noida Authority has appointed IIT Roorkee as the consultant for this project. IIT Roorkee will first study how feasible and appropriate it is to build an elevated road at this location. Once that assessment is done, it will prepare the detailed project report, or DPR, for the road. For this work, the Noida Authority will pay IIT Roorkee close to Rs 3.5 crore. This is reportedly the first time the Noida Authority has handed this kind of responsibility to IIT Roorkee for a construction project.\n\nFive major traffic signals stand between commuters today\nAt present, people travelling between the industrial areas of Phase 1 and Phase 3 have to pass through five major traffic signals, including Rajnigandha Chauraha, Chauda Mod, Sector 12 Tiraha and Sector 57. That is precisely why long jams build up here every day, with commuters losing close to half an hour just sitting in traffic.\n\nThe same journey will take just 10 minutes once the road is built\nOnce the elevated road is in place, that same stretch will be covered without a single stop in around 10 minutes. This will save time for lakhs of vehicle drivers heading towards DND and South Delhi, making their daily commute considerably smoother.\n\nAlignment gets in-principle approval, feasibility report next\nNoida Authority Chief Executive Officer Krishna Karunesh said that the alignment of the 6 kilometre, 6 lane elevated road connecting the Rajnigandha underpass to Uplex in Sector 60 has already received in-principle approval. IIT Roorkee will now prepare the feasibility report. Once that is done, the DPR will be drawn up, after which construction work will move forward.\n\nGreater Noida West and nearby societies will feel the difference too\nKrishna Karunesh added that once the road is built, travel between the National Dalit Prerna Sthal in Sector 95, DND, Sector 57, Sector 60 and the nearby industrial areas will become considerably faster. Residents of Greater Noida West, Noida and neighbouring societies are also expected to get relief from the traffic jams they face on a daily basis. The Noida Authority says this project will be a major step towards improving the city's traffic management, and that it will further strengthen Noida's connectivity, making commutes faster and easier in the years ahead.\n\nWhat this means for you\n• Across India: Bringing in an institute like IIT Roorkee as a project consultant could become a model other cities look at while trying to fix their own chronic traffic bottlenecks.\n• In Noida: Daily commuters between Sector 95, DND, Sector 57, Sector 60 and the surrounding industrial areas will see their usual half hour stuck in jams shrink to around a 10 minute drive, saving both time and fuel.\n\nQuestions & Answers\n\n1.
