A shocking incident from Kalyan East in Maharashtra's Thane district has come to light, where a patient got his associates to attack a doctor and hospital staff with rods and sticks after he was asked to clear his treatment bill. The incident took place at Janki Global Hospital in Kalyan East, and the display of hooliganism inside a hospital has left people stunned.
Patient admitted for fever treatment
According to the information available, a patient named Sonu had been admitted to the hospital with complaints of fever. Doctors examined him and administered an injection along with a drip. Once the treatment was completed, the hospital raised a bill of around Rs 2,000, which was later reduced to nearly Rs 1,500.
Patient kept making excuses instead of paying
Despite this concession, the patient stalled on making the payment. He first claimed he would pay through GPay, and then told the staff that a friend of his was waiting downstairs with the money and that the payment would be made through him.
Armed associates were already waiting downstairs
When hospital staff accompanied the patient downstairs, they found several of his associates already present there, armed with rods and sticks. It is alleged that as soon as the staff asked for the bill amount, the group attacked the doctor and hospital employees. The doctor and several staff members were injured in the assault.
Bill was reduced on humanitarian grounds, yet attack was ordered
Dr Ashok from the hospital said the patient had received routine treatment and that the hospital management had already lowered the bill on humanitarian grounds. Despite this, the patient chose to get his associates to attack the staff instead of clearing the payment.
Entire incident caught on CCTV, police launch search for accused
The whole incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the hospital. Following a complaint, Kolsewadi police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused based on the CCTV footage.
Questions raised over law and order and hospital safety
The incident has once again raised questions about the deteriorating law and order situation in Kalyan East. Local residents say that if doctors and staff are not safe inside a hospital, it raises serious concerns about the safety of ordinary citizens as well, with calls growing for tighter security in the area.
