On 15 August 2025, Mahindra pulled the wraps off the Vision S concept as part of its Global Vision 2027 programme. It is a sub-4 metre compact SUV built on the NU_IQ modular platform. The model is being seen as the successor to the Bolero Neo and is popularly referred to as the 'Baby Scorpio', blending a boxy, rugged design with premium lifestyle appeal. Already spotted under camouflage during testing, the SUV could arrive in the Indian market in late 2026 or in early-to-mid 2027. It is likely to be rolled out around the festive season or close to 15 August 2027.
As for pricing, its ex-showroom price will start at ₹9 lakh and go up to ₹16 lakh. The NU_IQ platform will support petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV powertrains, which helps make it a multi-purpose vehicle. Mahindra's focus is on 5-star safety, advanced features and off-road capability, making it well suited to both city and highway use. Let us take a look at everything from its likely design to its engine and performance details.
Rugged, Boxy Design
The Mahindra Vision S sports a boxy and muscular design that appears inspired by the Land Rover Defender. L-shaped LED DRLs, pixel LED headlights, ice-cube fog lamps, flush door handles, roof-mounted auxiliary lamps, thick black cladding and high ground clearance (up to around 277mm) give it a rugged look. With a sub-4 metre length (roughly 3990–4200 mm), a 2665 mm wheelbase and 19-inch wheels, it carries an attractive stance. These elements are expected to be retained in the production model.
Modern, Premium Cabin
Its cabin is modern and premium. A blue-black theme, silver accents, glossy black inserts, dual-tone upholstery and yellow dashboard straps lend it an off-road vibe. Features such as dual large touchscreens (one for infotainment and the other as a digital cluster), a triple-spoke steering wheel (with Vision S badging), vertical AC vents, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat and ambient lighting will lift it above the segment. A spacious cabin, flat floor and good boot space (up to 644 litres) make it perfect for families.
Features and Safety
It is likely to offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, multiple drive modes and a premium audio system. These features could be even richer in the production version. On the safety front, it will come with 6 standard airbags, Level-2 ADAS, TPMS, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, ESC, hill hold and descent control, and a 360-camera. Mahindra is targeting a 5-star Global NCAP rating.
Engine and Performance
Initially, it will be offered with a 1.2 litre turbo petrol (from the XUV 3XO) and a 1.5L turbo diesel (115 bhp, 300 Nm) engine, with manual, AMT and automatic transmission options. AWD is also possible. Hybrid and EV variants will follow later. Mileage could be in the range of 16–18 kmpl for petrol and up to 20–22 kmpl for diesel.
The Verdict
All in all, the Mahindra Vision S brings an excellent combination of style, technology, safety and performance. This Sub-4m SUV will take the segment to new heights and strengthen Mahindra's grip on the market. After its launch, it will appeal to both young buyers and family users alike.
