Tata Motors is now gearing up to make its electric vehicle range even stronger in the Indian auto market. Bringing back the much-loved Tata Sierra name once again — this time in an electric form — the company will officially take the wraps off the Sierra EV on June 30, 2026. The model has already been showcased as a concept at Auto Expo 2020 and 2023, and its modern-retro design was recently revealed in a production-spec teaser. Built on the acti.ev+ platform, this SUV will be positioned between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV, taking on rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and MG ZS EV in the market.
The Tata Sierra EV blends its retro boxy styling with EV-specific elements such as a closed-off grille, connected LED DRLs and a wrap-around rear glass, giving it a modern appeal while preserving the Sierra's legacy. With a premium interior, advanced features and a good range, this mid-size electric SUV is set to emerge as a strong contender in its segment. Its price is expected to fall between ₹18-25 lakh (ex-showroom), which would make it an attractive option. Let's take a look at the possible details.
Launch, Booking and Delivery Details
The official unveiling of the Tata Sierra EV will take place on June 30, 2026. The launch is likely to happen between July and September 2026. Bookings could open either immediately after the launch or around the time of the unveiling. Much like the existing Sierra, the booking token amount may be around ₹25,000. Deliveries are expected to begin within a few weeks of the launch, and large-scale availability is likely by the end of 2026. Production will take place at Tata's Sanand factory, and both RWD and AWD variants will be on offer.
The Sierra EV's design is retro-modern. Its highlights include an EV-specific closed front grille, smooth bumpers, connected LED lights and the iconic wrap-around rear glass. A boxy silhouette, strong road presence and flush door handles give it a premium look. The cabin has been kept premium and spacious.
The top variant will get a triple-screen setup — a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch passenger display. The lower variants, meanwhile, will get a dual-screen layout and a HUD. With a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a JBL premium audio system and luxury materials, the SUV will deliver a lounge-like experience.
It is expected to come with multiple drive modes, a 360-degree camera, connected car technology, wireless charging and Level-2 ADAS features (such as adaptive cruise control). When it comes to safety, 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ADAS and structural safety features will be standard. On top of that, it is expected to score a full 5 stars in crash tests.
Like the Harrier EV, it will be offered with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery pack options, while some reports also mention a 55 kWh battery. Both RWD and dual-motor AWD will be available. Its estimated range is said to be around 400-500 KM. With fast-charging support, a 20-80% charge could be completed in 25-45 minutes. The top AWD variant will deliver powerful performance.
All in all, the Tata Sierra EV could prove to be a game-changer in the Indian EV market. It promises to offer a perfect combination of style, technology and performance.
