Turmoil in TMC: Kirti Azad's Big Charge — MPs 'Intimidated and Bought', Says a Separate Faction Cannot Even Be Formed

Amid the ongoing internal rebellion in the Trinamool Congress, Kirti Azad accused the BJP of frightening, threatening and buying off MPs to break the party, while the CID grilled Abhishek Banerjee for hours in a forged-signature case.

TMC Crisis Live: A Trinamool Congress leader made the sensational claim that Yusuf Pathan was summoned to Amit Shah's office and intimidated. According to him, the country's ‘four pillars have collapsed’ and political morality is fast disappearing. During the same remarks he addressed Nishikant Dubey as his ‘younger brother’, yet simultaneously launched a sharp attack on him.

TMC Crisis Live Updates: Kirti Azad said that getting a separate faction recognised in the Lok Sabha is no easy task and that ‘the entire party would have to be merged.’ He claimed that initially only eight MPs were on board, but the number was later pushed up through pressure and money. He also alleged that Sayoni Ghosh had recently signed alongside Mala Roy, and that even the ink of Mala Roy's signature looks different.

TMC Crisis News Live: Amid the rebellion brewing within the party, TMC leader Kirti Azad has levelled a serious charge against the BJP. Seen with an air gun, Kirti Azad clarified that he was merely practising, but quipped that ‘if I had to spin a story, I could say my security has been withdrawn, so I am protecting myself.’ He alleged that ‘these days Nishikant Dubey has become the Kuber of the BJP and Operation Lotus is underway.’ According to Kirti Azad, MPs are being broken away by frightening, threatening and paying them. He said that ‘MPs were fixed by paying anywhere from 50 lakh to 5 crore rupees.’

TMC Crisis Live: Amid the political storm inside the party, rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has written to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and the External Affairs Minister, raising several national-security concerns. She has demanded a probe into reports of Rajya Sabha MP Imran's alleged links with Bangladeshi radical organisations. In addition, Kakoli has sought an investigation into allegations that no land has been allotted to the Indian Army and the BSF along West Bengal's international border, particularly in the strategically crucial ‘Chicken Neck’, or Siliguri Corridor, area.

TMC Crisis Live Updates: Amid this upheaval in the Trinamool Congress, 19 of the 20 MPs who have broken away from the party have submitted their names to the Lok Sabha Speaker's office. According to sources, the list handed over on 18 May features prominent names such as Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Satabdi Roy, Yusuf Pathan, Sayoni Ghosh, Rachna Banerjee and Deepak Adhikari. It is being said that, amid the churn within the party, the rebel camp is striving to carve out a distinct identity.

TMC Crisis News Live: Amid the deepening political crisis in the Trinamool Congress, rebel MP Arup Chakraborty has made a significant statement. Speaking to CNN-News18, he said he has joined the party's rebel camp and that this faction is ready to support both the Centre and the state government. Chakraborty stated bluntly, ‘We are neither against the BJP nor against the country.’ Following his remarks, the widening split and political churn within the TMC have intensified further.

TMC Crisis Live: The CID questioned TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee for nearly five and a half hours in connection with the forged-signature and missing resolution-book case. According to sources, the investigating agency did not appear satisfied with several of his answers. CID sources claim that numerous contradictions surfaced during the questioning regarding the process of selecting the Leader of the Opposition and the signatures of absent legislators. The agency also put tough questions to Abhishek over the missing meeting resolution book.
