Woman Shopping for Wedding Jewellery When Armed Robbers Storm Store; Firing Triggers Panic

Armed robbers raided Amrapali Jewellers in the Kanti police station area of Muzaffarpur in broad daylight, looting ornaments worth lakhs and opening fire. Locals caught and thrashed one robber, while the others fled.

A major crime has come to light from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, where criminals once again openly challenged the police by targeting a jewellery shop in broad daylight. Armed miscreants barged into Amrapali Jewellers, located in Damodarpur within the Kanti police station area, and made off with ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. During the robbery, the men also fired shots to spread terror, throwing the entire locality into chaos.

According to the information available, 3 to 4 masked robbers suddenly entered Amrapali Jewellers, weapons in hand. The moment they stepped inside, they began intimidating and threatening the customers and the shopkeeper present there. When the shopkeeper resisted, the robbers struck him with the butt of a pistol, leaving him injured. They then gathered the ornaments kept in the shop and tried to flee.

Abeda Khatun, a customer who was shopping in the store at the time of the incident, said a wedding was due to take place at her home the next day, and she had come to buy jewellery for the occasion. It was during this time that the armed robbers entered the shop and began looting. She said the criminals forcibly snatched away the ornaments she was carrying as well. After the robbery, the people present showed courage and caught hold of one of the robbers, and the angry crowd thrashed him soundly. A motorcycle belonging to the criminals was also recovered from the spot, though the other robbers managed to escape.

As soon as news of the incident reached the police, the Kanti police station team arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Given the seriousness of the matter, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of the Western sub-division, Suchitra Kumari, also reached the spot. She said the entire case was under investigation and that footage from CCTV cameras installed in and around the shop was being examined. Raids are being conducted to identify and arrest the absconding criminals.

This daylight robbery and firing have created an atmosphere of fear among traders in the area. Local residents have demanded the swift arrest of the criminals and a strengthening of the security arrangements in the region. The police, meanwhile, claim that the entire case will be cracked soon.
