A full year has passed since businessman Sanjay Kapoor passed away, and his family marked the first anniversary of his death with heartfelt remembrances. What drew the most attention, however, was a single detail: the tribute note shared by his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur carried, at its close, the name of her mother-in-law Rani Kapur as well — the very same Rani Kapur with whom Priya has been locked in a legal dispute over a Rs 30,000 crore estate.
Priya's Emotional Note
On this difficult day, Priya Sachdev posted a photograph of Sanjay along with words from the heart. She wrote, ‘A year without you. The first thought in the morning and the last thought at night are still you.’
Continuing her message, she added, ‘It has been a year since you left, yet your presence guides us every single day. You never believed in standing still in life. You lived it with energy, curiosity and determination. You will always be loved and remembered for the values you stood for. Your love is our strength. Your memory is our blessing.’
The most striking part of the note was that, despite the ongoing courtroom battle, it was signed off in the names of both Sanjay's mother Rani Kapur and his third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur.
Karisma Kapoor Remembers Him Too
Sanjay's ex-wife and Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor did not let the day pass without remembering him either. Sharing a post on her Instagram story, she wrote — ‘Sanjay you will always be in our hearts.’ In her message she also noted the date on which her children, Samaira and Kiaan, lost their father. Karisma marked the date ’12/6/2025′ and expressed her feelings through folded-hands, white-heart and white-dove emojis.
Death in London, and the Questions Around It
For context, Sanjay Kapoor died on 12 June 2025 in London. At the time, the 53-year-old was playing a polo match there. Early reports attributed his death to a heart attack. Some later reports raised the possibility of an allergic reaction — an anaphylactic shock. His mother Rani Kapur, too, had raised questions about the circumstances of his death. Ultimately, however, a medical investigation in Britain concluded that he had died of natural causes.
Sanjay Kapoor's Family and Relationships
Sanjay Kapoor married Priya Sachdev in 2017 in what was his third marriage, and the couple has a son, Azarias Kapur. Priya was earlier married to American businessman Vikram Chatwal, with whom she has a daughter. Before this, Sanjay had been married to actress Karisma Kapoor, but the two divorced in 2016.
