Kangana vs Manoj Bajpayee vs Diljit: 5 Films Hit the Box Office This Weekend — Find Out Who's Leading

Five films across different genres released together on Friday, 12 June 2026. By the early Day 1 numbers, Mimoh Chakraborty's 'Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past' appears to be in front.

It has been an unusually busy week for theatres. Big-budget masala and action films usually dominate the screens, yet this Friday, 12 June 2026, five films of varying sizes and across very different genres landed on the box office all at once. From Manoj Bajpayee's political thriller 'Governor' to Kangana Ranaut's 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata', there is a fascinating contest playing out between these titles. Going by the early figures and buzz from Sacnilk and trade analysts, let's see which film had the upper hand on Day 1 and which one audiences picked first.

Bharat Bhagya Vidhata

Built around the courage of the medical staff of Cama Hospital and nurse Anjali Kulthe during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, this film is striking a chord with audiences.

Budget: around ₹60 crore

Day 1 collection: The film has made a slow but respectable start at the box office. On its opening day it could net roughly ₹1-2 crore in India. By 5 PM it had earned a gross of 0.44 crore, while its net collection so far stands at just 37 lakh. A total of 1403 shows are running today. On the strength of its emotional storyline and strong word of mouth, a big jump in collections is expected over the weekend. Tied as it is to patriotism and emotion, its ticket bookings picked up slightly after Friday afternoon. That said, the audience response to the film has not been particularly strong so far.

Governor

Starring Manoj Bajpayee and Ada Sharma, this is a historical political thriller. Manoj Bajpayee's powerful performance and a story packed with political manoeuvring are the film's biggest USP.

Budget: 70 crore

Day 1 collection: Appealing to lovers of content-driven and serious cinema, the film managed a gross of only 44 lakh rupees by 5 PM on its opening day. Its net collection was 37 lakh rupees. A total of 1020 shows were scheduled for the first day. It is expected to gather a little pace over the weekend.

Main Vapas Aaunga

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, this film features Diljit Dosanjh and Vedang Raina in the lead roles. Set against the backdrop of the Partition era, it is a deeply emotional love story.

Budget: 70 crore

Day 1 collection: Thanks to Diljit Dosanjh's star value and Imtiaz Ali's loyal fans, the film has made a decent enough start at the box office. By 5 PM on the opening day its gross collection stood at 0.57 crore rupees, while its net collection is 0.48 crore rupees. A total of 1711 shows were scheduled for the first day.

Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past

Starring Mimoh Chakraborty and Chetna Pandey, this film is the sequel to the 2011 superhit horror film 'Haunted 3D'.

Budget: 28 crore

Day 1 collection: Driven by horror enthusiasts, the film drew a good response in single screens. According to early figures, it posted a gross collection of 1.18 crore rupees by 5 PM on its opening day, with a net collection of around 1 crore. These numbers are expected to cross 2 crore. The film has more than 2000 shows on its first day. Audiences fond of three-dimensional (3D) effects and horror have started booking heavily for the evening and night shows.

Heer Saara

Starring Manvi Gagroo and Patralekha, this is a woman-centric road-trip drama that depicts a journey from Indore to Puducherry.

Budget: undisclosed

Day 1 collection: Releasing on limited screens, the film had a slow start. On its opening day it is expected to manage business of only around ₹20 to ₹40 lakh.

Who Pulled Ahead?

So who came out on top? If you look at the opening-day box office collections and advance booking trends, there is a tight fight this week between 'Main Vapas Aaunga' (Diljit Dosanjh), 'Governor' (Manoj Bajpayee) and 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata' (Kangana Ranaut). While Diljit's film is benefiting from his star power and music, Kangana's film is winning plenty of praise from audiences for its true, patriotic and emotion-soaked story. For fans of political and historical drama, Manoj Bajpayee's 'Governor' has emerged as a strong option too. Even so, going by Day 1 earnings, Mimoh Chakraborty's film is out in front.
