NSUT Opens Its Atal Incubation Centre Today, Rs 2 Crore Fund to Power Student Startup Dreams

Education Minister Ashish Sood will inaugurate the Atal Incubation Centre at Netaji Subhas University of Technology today, backed by a Rs 2 crore fund for the first year and a goal of supporting more than 50 startups annually.

Plenty of people have a good idea, but very few know how to turn it into a working business. To bridge exactly that gap, an Atal Incubation Centre has been set up at Netaji Subhas University of Technology. It will be inaugurated on 18 June, that is today, by Education Minister Ashish Sood. Every preparation has been finalised, and the centre has been built on the third floor of the university.

Approval That Took Years to Arrive

In a conversation, the centre's director, Prerna Gaud, said that NSUT students have always been fairly aware of startups. They tend to know how to register a startup and how to steer it towards success. For the past 10 years, every student here has been given a chance to take their startup forward. To strengthen this effort further, permission to set up the Atal Incubation Centre at the university was granted in 2022 under the Atal Innovation Mission.

Rs 2 Crore in the First Slot

According to Prerna Gaud, all the hurdles in establishing the centre at the university were cleared in November 2025, after which 18 June was fixed for its inauguration. For now, the centre has received a fund of Rs 2 crore for the first year. She explained that in this opening year, students across the entire Delhi NCR will be made aware of startups and given as much information as possible. Several camps will also be organised so that more and more students can join the initiative.

A Sharp Focus on AI

The director added that the Atal Incubation Centre will give a strong push to artificial intelligence, because times have changed and most startups today are already built around artificial intelligence. She stressed that the centre will be fully high-tech, offering a fresh identity to every kind of startup, from those based on artificial intelligence to those built on the internet.

Target of 50-Plus Startups a Year

Prerna Gaud said students will be provided every facility so they can run their startups in the best possible way. The centre has set a target of benefiting more than 50 startups every year. She noted that the government's entire focus is on artificial intelligence along with data collection and smart systems, so that the country's technology gets a boost and more startups can emerge. In her words, this will be a platform where the dreams of aspiring entrepreneurs will be given wings.
