Significant Overhaul for Rajasthan CET-2026
Millions of aspiring candidates in Rajasthan, eager for government job opportunities, are looking at a transformed landscape with the recently announced Common Eligibility Test (CET)-2026. The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has unveiled key dates and major changes for the upcoming examination, which serves as a crucial screening test for numerous state-level recruitments. Approximately 30 lakh candidates who have been awaiting these updates can now prepare for a more challenging yet potentially more stable eligibility pathway.
Revised Examination Schedule and Application Dates
The CET-2026 will be conducted across two distinct levels. The Senior Secondary Level CET is scheduled to take place over three days, from October 23 to October 25, 2026, featuring different phases. The application process for this level is expected to commence in the final week of June. For the Graduation Level CET, examinations will be held from December 1 to December 3, 2026, also spanning three days in the first week of December. Applications for the graduate-level test are anticipated to open in July.
Enhanced Difficulty and Negative Marking Introduced
This iteration of the CET is expected to be considerably more challenging than previous examinations. It is estimated that only 3 to 4 lakh candidates will successfully achieve eligibility. A significant new addition for CET-2026 is the implementation of negative marking for the first time, a factor that will require candidates to approach questions with greater caution and precision. This shift aims to enhance the selection process's rigor and identify truly prepared individuals.
Extended Validity Period Offers Relief to Candidates
One of the most impactful changes announced by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board is the extension of the CET certificate's validity from one year to three years. This decision is poised to benefit over 20 lakh candidates who will participate in CET-2026 by reducing the frequency with which they need to take the exam. Despite the extended validity, candidates wishing to improve their scores will still have the option to appear for the CET annually. The minimum passing score remains 40 percent, with a 5 percent relaxation applicable for reserved categories.
Notably, the validity of CET-2024 certificates expired in February 2026, rendering 8.78 lakh graduate-level and 9.17 lakh senior secondary-level candidates ineligible. These individuals will now be required to sit for CET-2026.
CET: A Gateway to Government Jobs
The Common Eligibility Test is not a final recruitment examination but rather a screening mechanism organized by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board to determine eligibility for various vacancies. Successful candidates, based on their scores, become eligible to participate in the main recruitment examinations for specific posts. These positions encompass a wide range, including Platoon Commander, Patwari, Junior Accountant, Tehsil Revenue Accountant, Supervisor (Women Empowerment), Deputy Jailer, Hostel Superintendent Grade-II, and Gram Vikas Adhikari. The board's current announcement is particularly important as several significant recruitments in Rajasthan have been on hold due to a lack of CET eligibility. The successful conduct of CET-2026 is expected to accelerate these hiring processes, potentially opening doors to approximately 19 to 23 major state government recruitments for qualified individuals.
New Topics Added to CET-2026 Syllabus
The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board has also revised the syllabus for CET-2026, incorporating four new and relevant topics. These additions include CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, Drug Abuse, and Social Media Addiction.
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): This subject will cover questions related to this emergency life-saving procedure, which is crucial when a person's breathing or heartbeat stops.
- First Aid: This topic will likely focus on immediate care provided to someone who has been injured or suddenly becomes ill.
- Drug Abuse: Questions on this subject will delve into the physical, mental, and social impacts of the misuse of narcotics and intoxicating substances, along with measures for their prevention.
- Social Media Addiction: This segment will include questions exploring the mental, social, and behavioral adverse effects resulting from excessive use of social media platforms.
