Bangladesh are currently hosting Australia in a three-match ODI series, and the home side have already sealed an unassailable 2-0 lead by winning the opening two games. The second match of the series was played on 11 June at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, where Bangladesh prevailed by 5 wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a crucial hand with the bat in that victory, but during his innings he was struck on the head and had to be admitted to hospital once the match was over. Now, just ahead of the third clash, the Bangladesh camp has received encouraging news, as Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been discharged from hospital.
Will Mehidy Be Available for the Training Session
Bangladesh are set to play the third and final ODI against Australia on 14 June, with their eyes firmly fixed on completing a clean sweep. Regarding Mehidy Hasan Miraz's fitness, BCB officials said that no final decision has yet been taken on whether he will take part in the training session scheduled for the 13th. Bangladesh team operations manager Nafees Iqbal, in a video released by the BCB, explained that Mehidy remained under medical observation at Evercare Hospital for roughly 12 hours. He said that, as everyone is aware, the player had taken a blow to the head from a bouncer and had also vomited, which was a slight cause for concern. Despite this, he carried on batting, and immediately after the match the BCB doctors and physio together decided that Mehidy should be sent to Evercare even though he was feeling better. He underwent a scan there, and the first scan report came back fine. After the second scan report today also returned normal, Mehidy was released from the hospital.
Injured Off Nathan Ellis's Delivery
During the second ODI, while Bangladesh were chasing the target, Mehidy Hasan Miraz missed a bouncer from Nathan Ellis and the ball struck him flush on the helmet, leaving him uncomfortable for a short while. After the physio carried out a concussion test, Mehidy continued his innings and went on to score an unbeaten 22 runs off 22 balls. According to a Cricbuzz report, Bangladesh have made no changes to their squad for the third ODI, and it is expected that Mehidy will be declared fit to play this match.
