Aparajita Blue Drink: Boosts Immunity and Detoxes the Body — Here's the Easy Home Recipe

The blue drink made from the dried flowers of aparajita (also called Neelkanth) is rich in antioxidants and is believed to boost immunity and help detox the body. Here's how to make this herbal drink at home.

Azamgarh: These days a lot of people enjoy drinking black tea and green tea, since both are considered quite good for health. But today we are going to tell you about a unique drink that can make all these teas seem dull by comparison. We are talking about the blue drink. In fact, this blue beverage is not made from any expensive or specially processed tea leaf — it is prepared simply by drying the flowers of aparajita. Known as aparajita or Neelkanth, this flower can also be used as a highly beneficial medicinal remedy in the form of a blue drink.

Ayurveda too describes the use of aparajita flowers as medicine in several different ways. Speaking to Local 18, natural farming expert Rakesh Pandey explains that the dried flowers of aparajita can be used medicinally and may prove highly beneficial in many types of ailments. In several places, people are also drying this flower and using it as a herbal drink.

He explained that this flower is also deeply connected to India's Sanatan traditions. Because of its deep blue colour, it is offered to Lord Shiva, which is why it is also called Neelkanth. The herbal tea made by drying these flowers commands a fairly high price in the international market, yet it can be prepared at home very easily. To make it, first bring water to a boil and take it off the gas, then drop two dried aparajita flowers into this hot water. Within just a few seconds the water will turn completely blue. After that, lemon and honey can be added to taste.

The best part is that this blue drink can be enjoyed as a hot tea in winter or as a chilled mojito in summer. Rakesh Pandey says this blue drink is extremely beneficial for health and contains many medicinal properties. Drinking it regularly boosts the body's immunity, and at the same time it works to detox the body. Notably, it is rich in antioxidants, which are considered highly beneficial for skin health.
