A major bloodbath was averted in Haryana's Rohtak after police moved at exactly the right moment to smash a conspiracy that was meant to claim five lives. Three young men were detained from the Ladhaut Road area, and the sheer quantity of weapons found on them left officers themselves taken aback.
What Was Recovered
During the search, police seized 7 illegal pistols, 13 magazines and 80 live cartridges from the three accused. This stockpile of arms points to just how large the planned operation was. Officers say plainly that had the raid not happened in time, the area could have witnessed a serious act of violence.
Who Are the Accused
The arrested youths have been identified as Aakash, Sahil and Vansh. One of them is a resident of Sonipat district, while the other two belong to Rohtak itself. For a long stretch, the three had been lying in wait to strike at their rivals.
An Old Grudge at the Root
The early investigation traced the whole conspiracy back to a past killing. Around three years ago, the brother of accused Aakash, named Arun, was murdered. Seeking to settle the score for that death, the three had been plotting for a long time and waiting for an opportunity. According to police, it was this old enmity that was driving the plan to target five people.
How the Trap Was Laid
The moment solid information came in, the police team threw a cordon across Ladhaut Road and caught all three. They were searched on the spot, which is when the large cache of weapons and cartridges turned up. The action is being seen as a big success for Rohtak police, as it simultaneously shut down a possible gang war and a plan for five murders.
What Happens Next
Questioning has already thrown up several important leads, and investigating agencies are now working to reach the accused's network and the source of the weapons. Police suspect that a few other people may also have a hand in the conspiracy, which is why the three are being interrogated in depth. Rohtak DSP Dalip Singh says the probe is still under way and that several more significant revelations linked to the case are expected in the coming days.
