Car Full of Tourists Plunges into Deep Gorge near Kullu, 2 Killed and 3 Injured; Vehicle Smashed to Pieces

A car carrying tourists went out of control and fell into a deep gorge in the Sarsadi area of Manikaran valley on Friday afternoon, killing two people and seriously injuring three others, including an 8-year-old girl.

Kullu in Himachal is a favourite destination for travellers from across the country, yet on its mountain roads even a moment's carelessness can prove fatal. One such accident came to light on Friday afternoon, when a car packed with tourists tumbled into a deep gorge in the Sarsadi area. Two people died tragically in the crash, while three others were reported injured. As soon as news of the accident spread, local residents rushed to the spot and, after great effort, pulled everyone out of the car and rushed them to hospital. The injured are being treated, while the bodies of the deceased have been sent for postmortem.

Tragic Crash in Manikaran Valley

The painful road accident took place on Friday afternoon in the Sarsadi region of Manikaran valley. The car ferrying tourists suddenly went out of control and crashed into a deep gorge. Two of the vehicle's occupants died on the spot, while three others, including an 8-year-old girl, were seriously injured. On receiving the information, local people, police and a rescue team immediately reached the site. A rescue operation was launched, the injured were brought out of the gorge and taken to hospital for treatment. According to doctors, all the injured are undergoing treatment.

Eyewitness Saw the Car Fall into the Gorge

Eyewitness and local volunteer Shera Negi said he saw the car fall into the gorge right before his eyes. He immediately reached the site and, with the help of others, began relief and rescue work. According to the information available, the accident occurred on Friday afternoon at Sarsadi in Manikaran valley. After the accident, a police team also arrived at the spot and brought the bodies of the deceased out of the gorge up to the road. The bodies have been sent to Kullu hospital for postmortem.

Police Launch Investigation

According to preliminary information, the vehicle went out of control and fell off the road, though the actual causes of the accident are not yet known. The police have registered a case and begun an investigation, and the identity of the deceased and the cause of the crash are being confirmed. It is being reported that all the occupants of the vehicle were tourists who had come to visit Kullu-Manali. Following the accident, there is an atmosphere of mourning across the region.
