Joyful Trip to Himachal Ends in Tragedy
A family's joyous trip to Manali in Himachal Pradesh turned into a profound tragedy following a devastating road accident. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon near Gramphu on the Rohtang-Koksar road in Lahaul-Spiti district, resulted in the untimely deaths of a 26-year-old mother and her 11-month-old infant son. The mother's 52-year-old mother-in-law also sustained injuries in the mishap.
Details of the Horrific Accident
According to information gathered by TrendKia, the family had stopped near a small stream or waterfall on the Rohtang-Koksar route on June 17. While some family members were outside taking photographs, 26-year-old Tanu, her 11-month-old son Daksh, and her 52-year-old mother-in-law Savita Devi remained inside the Scorpio vehicle. Tanu's husband, Deepak Kumar Singh, and her brother-in-law, Aman Singh, were standing outside capturing moments. Unexpectedly, the Scorpio car began rolling backward on its own, losing control and plummeting into a deep gorge.
Victims and Injuries
Following the accident, a total of five individuals were reported injured and were promptly admitted to the Civil Hospital in Manali. Tragically, Tanu, from Dumduma village under Salempur Panchayat in the Vaishali police station area of Bihar, and her son Daksh Kumar Singh, succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Savita Devi, identified as Tanu's 52-year-old mother-in-law, was among the injured and is currently receiving medical care. The family had embarked on their Manali trip on Tuesday night.
Police Investigation Underway
Deepak Kumar Singh, Tanu's husband, is an engineer by profession and resides with his family in Bhondsi, Gurugram. The Lahaul Police have registered a case regarding the incident and are conducting a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident. The post-mortem examinations for the mother and son were carried out at Manali hospital on Thursday, after which their bodies were handed over to their relatives. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of caution and adherence to safety protocols when traveling in mountainous regions.
