US Missile Strike: 'Aditya Was Alive After the Blast With a Head Injury' — Father Reveals Details of Son's Death

A 23-year-old merchant navy cadet, Aditya Sharma from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, was killed when a ship was hit by a missile near the Oman coast during the Iran-US conflict. His father says embassy information indicated Aditya was alive for some time after the strike and had suffered a head injury.

A deep pall of grief has descended on Bhalu village in the Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. The death of 23-year-old merchant navy cadet Aditya Sharma, who lost his life in a US strike during the ongoing conflict with Iran, has shaken the entire area. The family is anxiously waiting for their son's body to reach home. Aditya's death has triggered a wave of mourning across the village, and it feels as though a mountain of sorrow has come crashing down on the family. The household is steeped in grief, with his parents, grandmother and other relatives left inconsolable.

According to Aditya's father, Rajesh Sharma, he has been informed that Aditya's body was still on the ship and is being moved to another location for the post-mortem. He said that, as per the initial information, Aditya had sustained a serious injury to his head. The family is still awaiting the arrival of the body in India.

Father Rajesh said that in a call from the embassy in Muscat, he was told that Aditya was alive immediately after the missile strike and had a head injury. He was then moved off his ship onto another cargo vessel and given treatment. However, he later died. At present, his body is being kept at the embassy in Muscat.

Aditya's uncle, Himanshu Sharma, said he spoke with officials of DG Shipping over the phone. The officials expressed sorrow over the incident and assured the family that every aspect of the matter would be investigated. Raising several questions, Himanshu Sharma said the company claims the ship was stationed at one spot, whereas Aditya had himself told his father that the ship was moving in the direction of Iran.

He alleged that guards should have been deployed for security in the area where the ship was operating, since such regions always carry the threat of pirates or war-like situations. According to him, the company failed to make adequate security arrangements. He has demanded an impartial inquiry into the entire matter and action against those responsible. Himanshu Sharma added that DG Shipping has assured the family that every fact connected to Aditya's death will be thoroughly investigated, so that the truth comes out and the family gets justice.

Meanwhile, an atmosphere of mourning prevails in Bhalu village and the surrounding areas. Large numbers of people are reaching the family's home to offer condolences. For now, however, the family's eyes are fixed on the moment when Aditya's body will arrive home for the final farewell.

Aditya was the only son of his parents. His father runs a business in Jalandhar, and Aditya too had studied there. He had joined his job only about eight months ago. Aditya's uncle, Sanjeev Lakhanpal, said he was deeply saddened when he learnt about Aditya. Rajiv Sharma said Aditya was due to return home soon. Aditya's grandfather, Ashok Kumar, said he had only one grandson. His cousin Suresh Sharma has appealed to the government to bring his brother's body back to India as soon as possible.

During the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, the US struck a ship with a missile near the Oman coast. Three Indians, including Aditya, a resident of Bhalu village in Nadaun, were killed in the attack. Aditya Sharma had joined the merchant navy only in November 2025.
