Horrific Crime Shakes Jaipur
The Shivdaspura police station area in Chaksu, Jaipur, has been rocked by a shocking crime where a 54-year-old woman was brutally murdered and her body later discovered in a well. What has emerged as particularly disturbing is the alleged motive behind this heinous act: the perpetrators reportedly committed the murder to loot 1 kilogram of silver anklets (kadas) worn by the victim.
Victim Identified, Disappearance Reported
The deceased has been identified as Beena Devi, a 54-year-old resident of Ballupura. According to her family, Beena Devi left her home on Thursday to purchase medicines from a local medical store. However, she did not return home even late into the night. Her family then initiated a search and subsequently filed a missing person report at the Shivdaspura police station.
Grisly Discovery in a Well
On Friday morning, villagers noticed something suspicious near a well and immediately alerted the police. Upon receiving the information, police teams arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of local residents, retrieved the body from the well. The condition of the body horrified the police officials. Initial investigations revealed that both of the woman's legs had been severed, and her body was tied with stones before being thrown into the well, ostensibly to ensure it remained submerged.
Robbery Suspected as Motive
Police meticulously inspected the crime scene and called in a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to gather crucial evidence. Family members informed the authorities that Beena Devi was wearing 1 kg silver anklets, gold tops, earrings, a nose pin, and other ornaments when she left home. All these valuables were missing when her body was recovered, reinforcing the suspicion that robbery was the primary motive. Police also theorize that the accused dumped the body in the well to conceal her identity and destroy evidence of the crime.
Public Outcry and Demands
The incident has sparked widespread tension and outrage in the locality. A large number of villagers and family members gathered at the Shivdaspura police station, staging a protest and demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits. They also called for strict action against those responsible, a post-mortem examination by a special medical board, compensation of 50 lakh rupees, and a government job for one family member.
Police Investigation Underway
Police officials acknowledged the gravity of the case and stated that special investigation teams have been formed. They are actively reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and interrogating several suspects. The entire investigation is being monitored at the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level. Authorities have assured the public that the accused will be apprehended soon, and the full details of the case will be brought to light.
