Shiv Shankar Mandal, a 26-year-old from Kandrapadi village in the Jaynagar block of Koderma district, has become a living example of the truth that success is decided not by one's physique but by self-belief, a positive outlook and sheer hard work. Though he stands just 4 feet tall, he has never treated his height as a weakness. Today, in the world of social media, he is famous among millions of people as 'Jharkhandi Chhotu Dada', spreading smiles through his family comedy videos.
In a special conversation, Shiv Shankar Mandal said that over the past few years the growing influence of social media and short-video platforms has opened up many new opportunities for young people. In the beginning, people in his village, looking at his short height, would advise him to move ahead in the direction of content creation. Drawing on their encouragement and his own self-confidence, he stepped into this field.
He began his career at Raghuvir Studio and Recording in Barhi and started making family comedy videos along with the well-known social media content creator Mahendra Comedy. Gradually, his style of acting and his easy, natural humour won over audiences, and his popularity kept rising.
A Single Video Takes a Lot of Hard Work
Making a successful comedy video is not limited to acting alone. The biggest effort behind it goes into building the story. Keeping the audience's taste and social themes in mind, the script is written over two to three days. After that, the video reaches viewers only once the long process of shooting, recording and editing has been completed.
He believes that short height is never a barrier to getting ahead in life; rather, a positive mindset and hard work are what matter most when fighting failure. He never regarded his height as his weakness and always tried to move forward with full confidence.
Alongside social media, Shiv Shankar has also taken steps towards self-employment. In his free time he used to help out at his cousin's electrical shop. That is where he found the inspiration for this work, and today he has opened his own electrical shop at Laxman Yadav Market in Larabad. People from the surrounding areas come to his shop to get electrical appliances repaired and for other services.
