Ranchi's Upper Bazaar Has a Budget Wedding-Gift Lane: Showpieces, Frames and a Custom 'Shagun' Pack From ₹50 to ₹500

A single lane near Mahavir Chowk in Ranchi's Upper Bazaar packs 10 to 12 shops selling showpieces, photo frames and customised 'shagun' gift packs priced between ₹50 and ₹500.

Where to find an affordable wedding gift

The biggest headache of the wedding season is usually the same: how do you pick a present that looks good without burning a hole in your pocket? In Ranchi, the answer sits in Upper Bazaar. Right next to Mahavir Chowk, a single lane is lined with 10 to 12 shops devoted entirely to budget-friendly showpieces, photo frames and other gift items. One short stroll lets you match both your taste and your budget in the same spot.

Shopping that starts at ₹50

What makes the lane stand out is its price band, which begins at just ₹50 and stretches up to ₹500, with plenty of attractive options packed into that range. Amit, who runs the Gallery Gift Store, says showpieces at his shop start from ₹50 itself. A large Radha-Krishna photo frame is available there for only ₹200, and the shopkeepers pack it on the spot before handing it over.

What ₹400 to ₹500 buys you

Step up to a slightly bigger budget of ₹400 to ₹500 and the choices widen further. In this range you can easily pick up handsome pots and artificial flowers to decorate the home. Pradeep, who runs the Pradeep Gallery Store, points out that the same price brings large-sized showpieces such as Radha-Krishna, an idol of Ganesh ji and couple-dancing figurines. They look striking and are considered ideal for gifting.

Separate picks for the bride and groom

If the gift is meant specifically for the bride, a bridal bangle set with its full kit is available within ₹500. For the groom, there is a smart combo set of a tie, a purse and a pen. Taken together, these shops offer so many wedding-gift options that you can choose freely according to your liking and your spending limit.

Get your own 'shagun' pack made

The most interesting feature of these shops is the option to customise a gift. You can pick any five items of your choice, which are then tied into a beautiful, designer, multicoloured chunri and arranged exactly like a 'shagun'. The best part is that this entire customised pack, too, stays within ₹500. For anyone who wants to give a unique, traditional and good-looking present on a tight budget, this turns out to be a highly practical option.
