Indore Loot: Masked Men Posing as Police Stop Trader's Activa, Snatch Bag Containing Nearly ₹30 Lakh

In Indore's Pandharinath police station area, two masked men claiming to be police officers robbed a young trader of a bag holding ₹29,61,000 in cash and fled.

A sensational robbery came to light on Thursday night in the Pandharinath police station area of Indore district in Madhya Pradesh. Here, two miscreants posing as police officers snatched a bag containing nearly ₹30 lakh from a young trader and escaped from the spot. The incident triggered alarm across the locality and left residents shaken. Police are now busy searching for the accused, who remain on the run. According to the information available, 22-year-old Mukul Agarwal, a resident of Ramchandra Nagar, had been collecting cash from various traders. The previous night, riding his Activa, he was heading towards Machhi Bazaar via Ranipura. He was carrying a bag in which ₹29,61,000 in cash was kept.

How the Crime Was Carried Out

According to DCP Sunil Mehta, two miscreants riding an Activa had been tailing Mukul along the route for quite some time. Both had covered their faces with handkerchiefs so that no one could identify them. As soon as Mukul reached a narrow lane near Jaiswal Dharamshala, the miscreants surrounded and stopped him. One of them grabbed his hand while the vehicle was still moving, brought it to a halt, and claimed to be a police officer.

After this, the miscreants first snatched away Mukul's mobile phone and switched it off. They then made him take down the cash-filled bag and told him to follow behind them. Seizing the moment, both miscreants sped away from there with the bag. The victim, Mukul, said that the instant the robbers began to flee, he tried to switch his mobile back on, but by then the accused had already gone far. He also chased after them, but they took advantage of the surrounding lanes and escaped.

CCTV and Number Plate Pose a Challenge

Information about the incident was immediately given to Mukul's family and the police. As soon as the report came in, a police team reached the spot and began the investigation. During the probe, police found that not a single CCTV camera was installed in the lane where the crime took place. On top of that, the miscreants' Activa did not have a complete number plate either, and only MP0941 was visible written on it. For now, the police are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and are working to identify the accused and arrest them at the earliest.
