Seeking justice in court
P Dakshinamurthy, a businessman from Chennai, has spent the last year fighting for justice following the death of his 27-year-old daughter, Kavita Nagarjuna. Having exhausted his attempts to seek redressal from the local police, he has now approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The family is awaiting a hearing on the petition, hoping it will uncover the truth behind her death.
The dowry demands
According to TrendKia, Kavita Nagarjuna married Om Nagarjuna, a native of Tamil Nadu, on 2 March 2025. Om Nagarjuna is currently posted as a Major at JKRRC in Jabalpur. P Dakshinamurthy states that he provided a significant amount of dowry for the wedding, which included 100 tola of gold, 3 crore rupees in cash, a diamond necklace worth 20 lakh rupees, an XUV-700 car, and household items valued at approximately 12 lakh rupees. Allegations suggest that despite these contributions, the demands from the in-laws continued.
Suspicious circumstances surrounding the death
The grieving father claims that the in-laws began demanding an additional 2 crore rupees, leading to the mistreatment of Kavita Nagarjuna. Following her death on the morning of 10 June 2025, her father noted severe injury marks on her head. Her husband, Om Nagarjuna, alleged that she had fallen in the bathroom and suffered heart failure on the night of 9 June. However, the father points out that the husband delayed taking her to the hospital by three hours, fueling suspicions regarding the narrative provided by the husband.
