A major disaster was narrowly averted on Friday on the Indore–Edlabad national highway in Khandwa district. Near Dulhar village in the Pandhana police station area, a moving car suddenly burst into fierce flames. Within moments the vehicle turned into a ball of fire, throwing the highway into chaos. According to the information available, several members of a single family were travelling in the car from Maharashtra towards Indore. While on the road, the driver noticed smoke rising from the car. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, he immediately pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and got all the family members out safely. Thanks to the driver's vigilance and presence of mind, a big accident was averted and everyone's life was saved.
Vehicle Reduced to Ashes Within Minutes
According to eyewitnesses, the flames engulfed the entire car within just a few minutes. The blaze was so intense that the vehicle was completely burnt to ashes. As soon as word of the incident spread, locals gathered at the spot and informed the police. On receiving the information, a 108 ambulance team also reached the scene at once. Although no one was reported injured in the incident, the family members were badly shaken after the mishap. Initial suspicion is that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit or some technical fault in the car. On learning of the incident, the police too arrived at the spot and launched an investigation.
Cause of the Fire Still Not Revealed
For now, the actual reason behind the vehicle catching fire has not come to light. The police are investigating the matter, and it is suspected that the fire may have broken out due to a short circuit in the car. However, this has not yet been confirmed. The relief is that this accident was averted by a hair's breadth and there is no report of any casualty.
