Shots Behind Closed Doors: Royal Daughter-in-Law Shot Three Times Inside Parasmania Fort

A woman married into the Nagod royal family and born into the Jodhpur royal family was shot three times during a hail of bullets at a fort in Parasmania on Thursday night. Police have arrested the accused, Sunita Singh, and booked her for attempted murder.

An imposing fort, ties between two royal houses and a feud simmering for years — on Thursday night, all of it erupted into a bloody attack in Parasmania. The sound of gunfire from behind a bolted door sent a wave of fear through the area and left one woman gravely wounded, fighting for her life.

A Victim Tied to Two Royal Houses

The injured woman is no ordinary figure. She is the daughter-in-law of the Nagod royal family, while her own roots lie in the Jodhpur royal family. The fort where the attack unfolded belongs to Rupendra Pratap Singh, also known as Rajababa. Rupendra is the nephew of Nagendra Singh — a former Home Minister, Khajuraho MP and currently the BJP MLA from Nagod. That connection has turned this high-society shooting into a public airing of a rift within the royal household.

A Marriage, an Estrangement and the Other Woman

The mother of the wounded woman, Yogita Singh, laid out the chain of events. According to her, Yogita married Rupendra Singh, alias Baba Raja, in 2001. The relationship, however, did not hold. About 10 years ago, Baba Raja moved in with Sunita Singh and grew distant from his wedded wife, Yogita. That estrangement, her mother says, planted the seeds of the tension that exploded into gunfire on Thursday night.

Door Bolted, Bullets Fired From the Window

According to Yogita's mother, when Yogita reached the Parasmania fort on Thursday evening, Sunita Singh first tried to stop her from going inside. But the moment Yogita stepped in, Sunita bolted the door and began firing at her repeatedly through a window. Nine shots were fired from a point 2.2 weapon, the mother said, three of which struck Yogita's body.

From Rewa to Vindhya Hospital

In a critical state, Yogita Singh was first rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa. As her condition kept deteriorating, she was shifted to Vindhya Hospital, where she is now being treated.

Husband Also Accused of Conspiracy

The case does not stop at the actions of one woman. Yogita's mother has directly accused Baba Raja — Yogita's own husband — of being part of the plot, alleging that he conspired with his lover in the attempt on Yogita's life.

Police Action

On receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested the accused, Sunita Singh. They have registered a case of attempted murder and seized the rifle used in the attack. Since the shooting, fear and chatter have gripped the area from Parasmania across the entire Vindhya region.
