Seven-Day-Old Baby Girl Found in a Sack Near a Dustbin in Kalyan, Admitted to Local Hospital

A seven-day-old newborn girl was found inside a sack near a dustbin outside Shri Vitthal Temple in Chikanipada, Kalyan, in Maharashtra's Thane district, and has been admitted to a local hospital.

This tiny baby, barely 7 days old, had not even properly opened her eyes to the world before she was abandoned in a place that shook everyone who heard of it. The incident, which surfaced from the Kalyan area of Maharashtra's Thane district, has filled people with deep anger. According to reports, early on Friday morning a newborn girl was pulled out of a dustbin placed under a tree outside the Shri Vitthal Temple in Chikanipada.

As per the information available, when the eyes of devotees coming and going from the temple in the morning fell on a sack lying near the dustbin, they grew suspicious. The moment people opened the sack and looked inside, they found a newborn girl. As word of the baby's discovery spread, a crowd quickly gathered at the spot. Without wasting a moment, local resident Pooja Davekar immediately rushed the baby to Rukminibai Hospital, where doctors began her treatment.

During the examination at the hospital, it came as a relief that the baby's condition was found to be stable for now. According to the doctors, the newborn is around 6 to 7 days old and is being given the necessary treatment. Dr. Sulochana Tribhuvan of the hospital carried out the baby's preliminary check-up and ensured arrangements for her care. As soon as news of the incident spread, public anger erupted across the area. Local residents have demanded strict action against those who abandoned a newborn in this manner.

People say that throwing an innocent infant into a dustbin is an extremely inhuman and shameful act. Meanwhile, the hospital administration has set the legal process in motion. Preparations are being made to send the baby to a children's home for further care and protection, so that she can find a safe environment. After receiving the information, the Kolsewadi police too swung into action. The police have launched an investigation and are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in and around the temple premises.

In addition, local shopkeepers, people associated with the temple and nearby residents are also being questioned. Police officials say that the case is being investigated from every angle and that efforts are continuing to identify the person or people who abandoned the baby there.
