Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has taken aim at the way the problem of paper leaks is being tackled, sharing a pointed post on the social media platform X. He laid out his view with a sharp jibe and raised direct questions about the approach.
What Rahul Gandhi said
In his post, Rahul Gandhi wrote, '‘Telegram Ban’ is the Modi government's new recipe for stopping paper leaks. In other words, instead of catching the thief, hang a lock on the victim's house.'
He went on to add, 'Millions of students have been studying on Telegram for years, notes, test series, discussions, preparation. How does snatching away that facility become a solution to paper leaks? And it isn't foolproof either.'
Linking it to students' preparation
The core of Rahul Gandhi's argument is that putting curbs on a platform does not get you anywhere near the real culprit. According to him, millions of students have leaned on this very platform for years to gather notes, work through test series, hold discussions and prepare for exams. Stripping that away, he argues, would end up hurting the very students who are guilty of no wrongdoing.
He also made the point that such a move would not prove fully effective, meaning a ban on its own would not pull out the roots of the paper leak problem.
