Law and order is back at the centre of Bihar’s political conversation, and the reason this time is Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary. Speaking from the stage of an event in Patna, he sent a blunt warning to criminals, telling them that the state no longer has any room for them. According to him, those who break the law and hope to slip away now have just one option left, to cross the border and run away to Nepal.
The remark has quickly become a talking point at both the political and administrative levels. At the same event, the Chief Minister made it clear that his government is working on a zero tolerance policy when it comes to crime and criminals, and that it is fully committed to establishing the rule of law across the state.
Naming UP, Bengal and Bihar to a round of applause
In his address, Samrat Chaudhary framed his point by invoking leaders from three states. He said, “There is no place for criminals in Bihar. They will have to flee to Nepal, because Yogi Baba is seated in UP, Shubhendu Adhikari Dada is there in West Bengal, and Samrat is seated in Bihar.”
The audience responded to his delivery with applause, and the comment soon set off chatter in political circles as well.
Claim of relentless action
The Chief Minister assured people that the government is constantly working to strengthen law and order in the state. He explained that the police have been given a free hand to arrest criminals, clamp down on illegal activity and rein in organised crime. According to him, a continuous drive against criminals is under way, and anyone who dares to challenge the law will be dealt with firmly. He stressed that providing ordinary citizens a safe environment is the government’s top priority.
A dig at the opposition
During the same speech, Samrat Chaudhary also hit out at the opposition. He alleged that some people deliberately try to spread the wrong message about Bihar’s law and order, whereas the reality is that the crackdown on criminals is constant and the government is in no mood to go soft. He added that Bihar is moving in the direction of development and good governance, and that creating a crime free atmosphere is among the government’s foremost priorities.
