Nitesh Rane Takes Aim at UBT Shiv Sena Over Internal Rebellion
Political rhetoric in Maharashtra has intensified as BJP leader and Maharashtra government minister Nitesh Rane launched a scathing attack on the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena (UBT Shiv Sena). Rane claimed that the situation in Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena mirrors the dissent and division seen in the Trinamool Congress due to Abhishek Banerjee. He explicitly referred to Aditya Thackeray as the 'Abhishek Banerjee' of UBT Shiv Sena, holding him responsible for the current state of affairs.
'Helmet' Taunt Adds Fuel to Fire
Continuing his satirical assault, Nitesh Rane remarked that just as Abhishek Banerjee has to move around wearing a helmet, he too has decided to send a helmet as a gift to Aditya Thackeray. Rane sarcastically suggested this is because it's uncertain when or from where chappals (slippers) or eggs might be hurled at him.
Allegations of Congress Proximity Fueling Revolt
Nitesh Rane also shed light on what he claimed to be the primary reason behind the rebellion by UBT Shiv Sena MPs. He asserted that the increasing closeness of the party leadership with the Congress party was the root cause of this revolt. According to Rane, the Shiv Sena, under Uddhav Thackeray's leadership, was moving towards an alliance with Congress and even progressing towards a merger, a move that many MPs found unacceptable.
Citing Balasaheb Thackeray's Ideology
To substantiate his claims, Rane invoked the past views of Balasaheb Thackeray. He stated that Balasaheb had a clear stance that if Shiv Sena ever allied with Congress, they should 'shut down their shop'. Rane argued that many UBT Shiv Sena MPs chose the path of rebellion against their leadership to uphold this very ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray.
Aditya Thackeray Hits Back at Rebels
Meanwhile, UBT leader Aditya Thackeray issued a strong rebuttal to the dissenting leaders. He described the situation as a shocking example of 'dirty politics'. Aditya Thackeray branded the rebels as 'shameless, ungrateful, and corrupt people'. He stated that these individuals won the 2024 elections because of 'some special people' and are now betraying them. Thackeray emphasized that no matter the excuses, the truth remains that they have shamelessly sold themselves. Aditya Thackeray further added that these leaders have not only sold themselves but have also compromised their dignity, their name, and their family's name. He asserted that Maharashtra would absolutely not tolerate this 'dirty politics' and that their 'torch' would bring light into this darkness.
