Massive Encroachment Drive Near International Border
A significant and stern action against illegal encroachments has been executed near the India-Pakistan international border in Rajasthan's Barmer district, specifically within the Gadra Road sub-division. Teams from the district administration and local revenue department, supported by a large police contingent, reached the border villages of Karkori and Malana to completely remove unauthorized constructions.
Demolition of Illegal Structures
According to information provided by the Gadra Road sub-divisional administration, this comprehensive operation was launched following numerous complaints about illegal occupations on government lands, including grazing lands and other state properties, in the aforementioned villages. During the drive, permanent and temporary structures, along with other constructions that had been built without proper authorization over the past few years on government land, were completely razed using JCB machinery.
Locals Allege Mosque Demolition and Malicious Intent
The administrative action has led to a tense calm prevailing in the border region. Local villagers have sharply questioned the administration's methods and timing. Members of the minority community among the local residents have voiced strong accusations, alleging that the administration acted with malice.
“The administration deliberately targeted and demolished our sacred mosque, disregarding all rules and regulations. This action is entirely one-sided,” villagers stated, expressing deep emotion and anger.
The residents further asserted that they have lived peacefully on this land for many decades, yet the action against their homes and a religious site was carried out without adequate notice or proper timing.
Border Residents Emphasize Patriotism
Amidst the controversy surrounding the mosque's demolition, prominent individuals and youth from the local minority community have vehemently affirmed their patriotism. Villagers unanimously declared that every citizen residing on the border is a staunch patriot.
Leaders from the minority community affirmed: “We are deeply connected to the soil of this country. Living on the border, we always remain vigilant for the nation's security. History bears witness that whenever our country (India) needs it, this minority community on the border will be at the forefront to offer its supreme sacrifice for the defense of the nation. Questioning our patriotism is wrong, but the administration should have also respected our religious sentiments.”
Administration Clarifies: Legal Drive on Government Land
As the controversy escalated, administrative officials have come forward to clarify the situation. Officials stated that the action was not communal or directed at any specific community. They described it as a purely legal anti-encroachment campaign conducted under the purview of law. It is crucial for security reasons in border areas to keep government lands free from encroachment. Therefore, illegal constructions on government grazing lands and state properties in Karkori and Malana were removed strictly following all legal procedures. Officials added that the situation is currently under control, and security agencies are closely monitoring the entire development.
