Two Deaths in 24 Hours at Dausa Treasury Office: From Sheetal Meena's Poisoning to Manoj Meena's Suicide Note, the Questions Now Driving the Probe

In a single day at the Sikrai sub-treasury office in Rajasthan's Dausa, junior accountant Sheetal Meena died under suspicious circumstances and ATO Manoj Meena was found hanging; a suicide note, a viscera report and call records have now become the heart of the police investigation.

The walls of a single government office in Rajasthan's Dausa district swallowed two lives in barely a day — and left behind a pile of questions no one can yet answer. At the sub-treasury office in Sikrai, junior accountant Sheetal Meena died under suspicious circumstances, and within 24 hours Assistant Treasury Officer (ATO) Manoj Meena was found hanging from a noose. Two deaths, one office, and a web of allegations spanning murder, harassment and abetment of suicide — together they have turned this sequence of events into one of Rajasthan's most talked-about and baffling cases.

One Office, Two Deaths and Cross-Pointing Accusations

This is no simple case but a tangled chain of accusations. Sheetal Meena's brother lodged a case of murder and mental harassment against Manoj Meena. Manoj, in turn, used his own suicide note to accuse Arun Meena, the Naib Tehsildar of Bhusawar, of intimidating him. In other words, one death pointed a finger at the next, and the second death swung that finger toward yet another person. Exactly what was brewing inside these office walls is now the focus of the police probe.

How the Whole Sequence Began

It started on Wednesday. While on duty at the Sikrai treasury office, junior accountant Sheetal Meena suddenly fell critically ill. Colleagues rushed her in serious condition to the nearby sub-district hospital, and after first aid she was referred to the Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur. But during treatment she died late on Wednesday night. The cause is being treated, at least initially, as the consumption of a poisonous substance.

Soon after, Sheetal's brother Mohanlal Meena went to the Manpur police station and filed a report. His complaint alleged outright that treasury officer Manoj Meena and some other staff at the office had been subjecting Sheetal to mental harassment, and that these very people had mixed poison into a drink to kill him.

Manoj Meena's Suicide Note and the Charge Against the Naib Tehsildar

The moment this case of murder and harassment was registered, treasury officer Manoj Meena came under severe mental strain. Not long after, when his body was found hanging, police recovered a suicide note from the spot. In this deeply emotional letter addressed to his father, Manoj declared himself completely innocent and levelled grave allegations against Bhusawar's Naib Tehsildar Arun Meena and against Sonu Meena. Sonu Meena is said to be the brother of junior accountant Sheetal Meena, while Arun Meena is described as a relative.

Manoj's father told police that after the case over Sheetal's death was registered, Naib Tehsildar Arun Meena had come to their home. The allegation is that during the conversation he directly threatened to have Manoj jailed and to destroy his entire career — and it was this fear that drove Manoj to take the extreme step late that night.

Broken by Isolation, He Took His Life Alone at Home

According to the family, Manoj Meena was completely alone at home at the time — his wife had gone to her parental home (peehar) for some work. When she called him repeatedly that night and got no answer, she grew anxious and sent a nearby acquaintance (a tenant) to check on the house. The moment that acquaintance reached Manoj's room, the sight left him stunned — Manoj was hanging from a noose. Police say that on the basis of the suicide note and the family's complaint, an investigation has been launched against the Naib Tehsildar and the other accused. Officers add that the real picture of this double-death case will emerge only after Sheetal Meena's viscera report and Manoj Meena's post-mortem.

The Threads the Investigation Is Now Trying to Connect

1. What Kind of Relationship Did Sheetal and Manoj Share?

The first and biggest puzzle before the police is the nature of the relationship between junior accountant Sheetal Meena and treasury officer Manoj Meena — was it purely professional, or was there some personal friction simmering as well? Sheetal's brother has openly accused Manoj of mental harassment and of mixing poison into a drink. To get to the truth, police are now combing through the office computer, government files, the call detail records (CDR) of both, and their WhatsApp chats, to determine whether any financial irregularity or some other dispute had created tension between the two.

2. The Viscera Report and Post-Mortem Will Unlock the Truth

Sheetal's death occurred during treatment at hospital and is initially being treated as poisoning. The next crucial link for the police will therefore be Sheetal Meena's viscera report, which will reveal exactly which poison or chemical entered the body and whether it was administered by force or taken voluntarily. Meanwhile, Manoj Meena's post-mortem, conducted by a medical board of doctors at the Mahwa hospital, will establish the time of death and whether there were any marks of struggle on the body.

3. FSL Examination of the Suicide Note and Handwriting Matching

The suicide note found beside Manoj's body has become the single biggest legal document in this case. In it, Manoj declared himself innocent and squarely accused Bhusawar's Naib Tehsildar Arun Meena and Sheetal's brother Sonu of threatening to have him jailed. Police will now send this note to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), where it will be matched against Manoj's older signatures and handwriting to confirm its authenticity with 100% certainty.

4. Tough Questioning of the Accused, Arun Meena and Sonu Meena

On the basis of the statements by Manoj's father and the suicide note, police will now investigate the other angle of the case — abetment to suicide. Stern questioning of the two named in the note, Bhusawar's Naib Tehsildar Arun Meena and Sonu Meena, is seen as a key step in this direction. Establishing the real cause of both deaths and the threads linking them now rests on these very lines of inquiry.
