Forced to Beg After Her Husband's Death, Then Fortune Turned... Munakka Devi Now Runs Her Own Business

After her husband's death pushed her to the brink of begging, Munakka Devi of Nibiya Begampur village in Bahraich joined a self-help group and is now self-reliant, earning a living by making organic fertiliser from cow dung and cow urine.

When Munakka Devi, a resident of a tiny village in Bahraich district, lost her husband, it felt as though a mountain of troubles had collapsed upon her. Her circumstances deteriorated so badly that she was forced to stretch out her hands and beg just to fill her stomach. She was struggling to get through each day when the women of a self-help group entered her life like messengers of God. Today, that same Munakka Devi is living a comfortable life, earning a good income by preparing organic fertiliser from cow dung and cow urine.

Hardships Began to Ease After Joining the Group

The government's National Rural Livelihood Mission is today proving to be a strong support for countless women whose every avenue of income had been shut off, or who were constantly worried about earning a living. By joining this scheme, numerous women are now not only standing on their own feet but also making a fresh start to their lives. One such woman is Munakka Devi of Nibiya Begampur village in Bahraich district, who, even with tears in her eyes, never tires of narrating her entire story.

Built Her Own Business After Joining the Group

After joining the National Rural Livelihood Mission, Munakka Devi these days is busy making organic fertiliser and organic herbal tonic. Gradually, her hard work began to pay off, and today she has become completely self-reliant, comfortably managing the expenses of her household. Now the people of the village are drawing inspiration from her. Today, thousands of farmers have connected with Munakka Devi and are moving towards advanced farming.

By adopting Mrida Sanjivani organic fertiliser and the organic tonic prepared to boost crop growth, farmers are doubling their income and directly cutting down the expenses incurred on their crops. This not only benefits the farmers but also keeps their land fertile. While prolonged use of pesticides harms the crops, it also gradually turns a farmer's field barren.
