For anyone dreaming of self-employment but unsure how to take the first step, a story from Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh offers a real-world blueprint. Sanjeev Jain, a resident of Nawab Saheb Road, once ran an ordinary grocery store. Today he owns the ‘Ayanshi Oil Mill’ and pockets a clean income of ₹60,000 every month. Behind that leap lies hard work paired with a government scheme that arrived at the right moment.
When the Grocery Store Stopped Adding Up
Sanjeev's beginnings were modest. Before all this, he managed a small kirana store on Nawab Saheb Road. Despite long hours and constant effort, the shop simply wasn't generating the kind of income needed to support a family and grow the business. That worry pushed him to start looking for a better path.
In that search, he reached out to Girraj Ojha, the district resource person of the Horticulture Department. That single conversation became the turning point in Sanjeev's life.
The PMFME Scheme Opened a New Door
Girraj Ojha walked Sanjeev through the central government's ‘Pradhan Mantri Sukshma Khadya Udyog Unnayan Yojana’ (PMFME) in detail. Once he understood what the scheme offered, Sanjeev wasted no time. He took a loan of roughly ₹9 lakh 90 thousand from Indian Overseas Bank, Shivpuri.
The biggest advantage of the scheme turned out to be the subsidy: he received up to 35 percent off on the loan he had taken. With that capital, he laid the foundation of his ‘Ayanshi Oil Mill’ on Nawab Saheb Road, completing his journey from grocery shopkeeper to business owner.
₹60,000 in Net Monthly Income and Jobs for Three
Today, Sanjeev's enterprise keeps climbing. His oil mill brings in an average net income of ₹60,000 every month. Yet the most striking part of the story isn't his own earnings. By hiring 3 local people at his unit, he has opened up employment for others as well.
Sanjeev's Message to Young People
Drawing on his own experience, Sanjeev Jain has a clear message for the youth. He says the self-employment schemes run by the Madhya Pradesh government are highly affordable and genuinely rewarding. He urges young people to step forward, make the most of these government schemes, and aim to become job creators rather than job seekers. His success stands as proof that with the right guidance and timely government support, anyone can travel from zero to the top on the strength of their own effort.
