Once anxious about finding work, Umra is today a small entrepreneur in her own right. A resident of Mohalla Nazirpura in Bahraich, she neither invested heavy capital nor went out looking for a job. Relying instead on her phone and her husband's faith in her, she found a way to earn from within the four walls of her home. By making hair bands, clutchers and tiaras, she now sells both online through Instagram and at a local market, and that effort is earning her a fresh identity.
One Video Sparked the Business Idea
Umra says the beginning was entirely ordinary. One day she was sitting at home casually watching videos on her phone when she came across a clip explaining how to make hair bands and other accessories for the hair. That is where the question struck her: why not learn this skill herself and start a business from home. Speaking to TrendKia, she said she refused to give up and spent nearly 3 months continuously watching videos to learn how to make clutchers, tiaras and hair bands.
The Whole Setup Took Three to Four Months
Putting the entire setup together took her around 3 to 4 months. Umra buys raw material from the market and turns it into finished products with her own hands. In the early days, the biggest puzzle was how to actually sell these products. To solve it, she created an Instagram account in her daughter's name and also joined an online site. Now she makes and posts her own videos, which are drawing a good response.
A Stall in the Market Every Sunday
Alongside online sales, Umra also sets up a stall every Sunday with her husband. The stall is put up near Chatori Gali, close to the well-known Medical College in Bahraich city, where her products reach customers directly.
Affordable and Durable, So Buyers Keep Coming
Umra claims that compared with the expensive handmade hair bands sold in the market, her hair accessories are more durable and affordable, which is exactly why people are taking to them. Through this entire journey her husband has stood by her at every step and kept encouraging her to push ahead. Today Umra of Bahraich is emerging as a role model for other women. Her story carries the message that women should never give up and must keep trying, because success arrives sooner or later.
