Facebook Down: Facebook and Instagram Crash Worldwide, Millions of Users Left Frustrated

Meta's two biggest platforms, Facebook and Instagram, suddenly went down across the world on Friday evening, leaving millions of users in India and several other countries struggling.

If your Instagram Reels have stopped playing this evening, or your Facebook feed simply refuses to refresh no matter how many times you try, there is no need to panic. The problem does not lie with your phone or your internet connection. In reality, tech giant Meta's two hugely popular social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, have gone down across the entire world. This technical glitch, which surfaced suddenly on Friday evening, has thrown millions of users into difficulty.

According to data from Downdetector, the well-known website that tracks outages in online services, complaints related to Facebook and Instagram began to surge from around 7 PM IST on Friday. Thousands of people reported that these apps were not working. The trouble was not confined to a single country; it is being experienced at the same time in India along with several other nations around the world.

What Kind of Problems Are Surfacing?

Because of this outage, different users are running into a variety of problems. Most people complain that while the app does open, new posts or Reels simply will not load. Some users were automatically logged out of their accounts and have been unable to log back in. Apart from Facebook and Instagram, the flow of messages on Facebook Messenger has also come to a halt.

The moment both platforms went down, baffled and frustrated users turned to the social media platform 'X' to find out what was really going on. Within a short while, hashtags like #FacebookDown and #InstagramDown began trending. People started sharing memes and asking one another whether everyone's social media had truly stopped working.

So far, Meta has issued neither an official statement nor any clarification about this major disruption. The company has also not explained what exactly caused the fault or by when it will be fixed.

Since this issue lies not with your phone or SIM card but directly with Meta's servers, repeatedly restarting the app or switching your internet on and off will make no difference. For now, the only option left for users is to wait for Meta to fix this technical glitch.
