Redmi has kicked off an entirely new product family in India with the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5, the very first phone in its Turbo series to reach the country. The company is positioning the handset for users who push their phones hard, whether that means heavy gaming, juggling several apps at once or simply needing a device that lasts through a long day. Here is a closer look at what the phone brings to the table.
Strong Performance and Benchmark Numbers
Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for quick app launches and a stutter free experience. According to the company, this combination helped the Redmi Turbo 5 clock more than 23 lakh on the AnTuTu benchmark. To keep temperatures in check during extended sessions, the phone also features a 3D Ice-loop cooling system that aims to keep heating under control.
A Display Built for Bright Sunlight
The Redmi Turbo 5 sports a 6.59 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its peak brightness goes up to 3500 nits, which means the screen should stay readable even under harsh sunlight. To guard against scratches and knocks, the panel is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Camera Setup
On the back, the phone carries a dual camera system. The main sensor is a 50 megapixel Sony IMX882 that comes with OIS, or optical image stabilisation. Alongside it sits an 8 megapixel ultra-wide camera for wider shots. For selfies and video calls, there is a 20 megapixel camera up front. Notably, the device can record video in 4K resolution at up to 60fps.
Battery and Charging
The biggest highlight of this phone is its huge 7540mAh battery. A cell that large is expected to deliver long backup, and to top it up quickly the phone supports 100W fast charging.
Software and Update Commitment
The Redmi Turbo 5 runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. On the software front, the company has promised a long support window, including 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates.
Price, Colours and Availability
In India, the Redmi Turbo 5 has been priced starting at Rs 37,999. Buyers can pick it up in three shades, namely Asphalt Black, Nitro Blue and Turbo White. The phone goes on sale from June 19 on Amazon and other platforms.
