Hyderabad YouTuber Sheikh Mahboob Beaten to Death Inside His Home After Friday Prayers; Wife's Brother Prime Suspect

Sheikh Mahboob alias Chandi Masood, a 30-year-old YouTuber and electrician from Hyderabad's Kumarwadi area, was attacked with an iron rod and gym equipment inside his home soon after returning from prayers; police suspect his wife's brother.

Killed Within Minutes of Reaching Home

What unfolded on Friday afternoon in Hyderabad's Kumarwadi locality left the entire neighbourhood shaken. Sheikh Mahboob, 30, had just offered his prayers and was heading back home, unaware that a group of men had already been keeping watch on him. He reached his house at around 3:20 pm and sensed that he was being followed. He rushed inside, but the attackers forced their way in right behind him — and within moments carried out a brutal assault.

Who Was Chandi Masood

A resident of Kumarwadi under the Golconda police station limits, Mahboob worked as an electrician by profession. Online, however, he had a different identity: he made videos under the name 'Chandi Masood' and enjoyed a fair amount of local popularity on social media. The same familiar face is now in the headlines for a chilling murder.

Iron Rod and Gym Equipment Used in the Attack

Police investigations indicate that the attackers struck repeatedly with heavy, sharp objects. The probe revealed that an iron rod and gym equipment were used in the assault. Mahboob suffered such severe head injuries that he died on the spot — there was not even time to rush him to a hospital. A large crowd gathered outside the house after the attack, and police reached the scene and began their inquiry as soon as they were informed.

Suspicion Points to the Brother-in-Law

In this case, police have named Sheikh Sohail as the main accused, who is said to be the brother of the victim's wife. According to the allegations, Sohail did not act alone — he is believed to have arrived to carry out the crime along with two associates, Afu and Jabir. All three accused are currently absconding, and a search is on to trace them.

An 18-Month-Old Love Marriage and Festering Tension

Investigating officers believe the roots of this killing may lie in a long-simmering family dispute. About 18 months ago, Mahboob had married for love, against his family's wishes. The couple later had a child, yet the bitterness between the two families never eased. Preliminary inquiries suggest that relations between Mahboob and his in-laws had been strained right from the time of the marriage, with arguments and quarrels surfacing from time to time.

Police Scanning CCTV Footage

Police are now working to arrest the accused and are closely examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Officials say a clearer picture of the entire sequence of events could emerge soon. The incident has once again drawn attention to the kind of family feuds that, in the aftermath of a love marriage, sometimes take a deadly turn.
