Jharkhand's capital, Ranchi, is buzzing these days over a spot that has suddenly caught everyone's attention. It is called Gunga Nala. A thin river flows here, widening into the shape of a large stream as it cuts right through the middle of dense forest. The scenery is so striking that people are hopping on their bikes and rushing over to see it. This is one of Ranchi's hidden gems, and at first glance it feels like a full-fledged hill station. The water here is remarkably clean and clear.
The Route to Get There
To reach this place you have to cross a small hill. The path is very narrow, and you need to climb down the slope. The moment you reach the bottom, a stunning view opens up in front of you. A clear stream of water flows through the centre, with thick forest spread out on both banks. There is also open, flat ground here. One look is enough to remind you of Pahalgam in Kashmir.
A Spot for Picnics and Peace
Large numbers of people are coming here for picnics. Many bring along a small stove, sit right in the middle of the stream, and cook Maggi and tea while soaking in the beautiful surroundings. The air is cool and clean, and the silence is so complete that you cannot even hear the flutter of a bird's wings. If you are tired or bored of your daily routine, a single visit here will leave your mood completely refreshed.
Meditation and the Help of Villagers
Many people also sit here and meditate. You will find villagers nearby who are happy to help you out. Locals bring their cows here to graze, so there is nothing to fear about the place. There is, however, one thing to keep in mind, it is best to leave before 5:00 in the evening. That is because you have to cross the hilly path on your way back, and there is absolutely no arrangement for lighting here.
How Far and How to Reach
This place is just 30 kilometres away from Ranchi. You can comfortably get here by bike, scooter, or a four-wheeler. What makes it special is that to reach the spot you have to pass through Supa village, and once you enter the village it looks so beautiful that you feel as if you have walked onto the set of a Bollywood film. When you get here, you will wonder why you never saw a view like this in Ranchi before.
