A shocking incident of murder has sent ripples of tension through Babhani village, located in the Bakhira police station area of Santkabirnagar district. A village resident was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon, his throat slit, reportedly due to an ongoing personal dispute. The horrific event quickly escalated into community outrage, culminating in angry locals setting fire to the shop of the individual accused of the crime.
Details of the Gruesome Incident
The victim has been identified as Anand Kumar, a 33-year-old resident of Babhani village, who belonged to the Scheduled Caste community. According to information, Nasir Ali, also a resident of the same village, allegedly used a sharp-edged weapon to carry out the brutal killing. The incident occurred late Thursday evening, plunging the entire village into a somber silence and heightened security concern.
Community Outrage and Aftermath
Following the discovery of Anand Kumar's body, profound anger gripped the villagers. This collective fury led to a violent response, with enraged residents torching the shop owned by Nasir Ali, the primary suspect. The immediate aftermath saw a rapid deployment of police personnel to control the situation and prevent further unrest.
Official Intervention and Investigation Efforts
Upon receiving news of the murder, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Meena promptly arrived at the scene on Thursday night. The following day, District Magistrate Alok Kumar and SP Meena revisited the village to assess the situation firsthand. To ensure law and order, a substantial police force from three different police stations has been stationed in Babhani village, rigorously overseeing peace and stability. The main accused, Nasir Ali, along with his family, is reported to be absconding since the incident.

Based on a formal complaint lodged by the victim's family, an First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against four individuals. This includes three named suspects and one unidentified person. District Magistrate Alok Kumar affirmed that the village remains peaceful under the watchful eye of the deployed police force. He categorically denied any communal overtones to the incident, asserting that it stemmed purely from a mutual dispute. Furthermore, the administration is actively working to provide all due financial and other assistance to the bereaved family in accordance with existing regulations.
