A chilling crime shook a Ghaziabad neighbourhood on Tuesday evening when a young man pushed his way into a home and sprayed bullets at two sisters. The attack took place at Valmiki Chowk in Adarsh Nagar, falling under the Khoda police station area of Uttar Pradesh. Both sisters were left seriously injured and are currently undergoing treatment. Police have admitted them to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Delhi, while the gunman is still at large.
Who The Victims Are
Khushi (aged 20) and her younger sister Nidhi (aged 18), residents of Adarsh Nagar, were at home when the attack unfolded. The accused, Johnny, a resident of Purana Bus Adda Baradari in Ghaziabad, allegedly reached their house at around 4:30 in the evening. That is where the entire episode began.
A Broken Engagement At The Root
According to neighbours, Khushi had been engaged to Johnny about one and a half years ago. However, citing the man's alleged questionable activities, the family called off the match roughly four months ago. It is being said that Johnny had nursed a grudge ever since, and this old bitterness is what eventually led to the bloodshed.
Half An Hour Of Recce, Then A Hail Of Bullets
Eyewitnesses say the assault was anything but spontaneous. The accused first loitered in the lane for nearly half an hour, scouting the area. He then climbed up to the upper floor of the house. The moment the two sisters spotted the weapon in Johnny's hand, they quickly shut the room door and tried to shield themselves. But the attacker did not stop. He smashed the window glass and shoved aside a refrigerator placed in his path to force his way inside. Once in, he fired indiscriminately at both sisters. Khushi was struck by four bullets in all, three in her leg and one in her stomach, according to reports. Nidhi took a bullet to the face. The gunshots left both sisters in a critical condition.
Hospital And Police Action
As soon as word reached the Khoda police station, a team rushed to the spot and wasted no time in moving both girls to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Delhi. Owing to her grave condition, one of the sisters was also referred to another hospital. Police officials say the case is being investigated thoroughly from every angle. Special teams have been formed to ensure the swift arrest of the accused, and authorities expect to nab him soon.
The Accused's Video Confession
After the attack, Johnny released a video offering his own version of events. In it, he levelled an allegation against the injured girls' father, claiming the man had been taking money from him. According to Johnny, "My marriage was fixed with Khushi two years ago. In the meantime, Khushi's father kept taking money from me. When I asked for my money back, they broke off the relationship in March 2026. Hurt by this, I shot Khushi and Nidhi." Police are also examining this video and the claims made in it.
