Khaki Turned Extortion Racket in Mathura: Sub-Inspector Jailed, Rs 25,000 Bounty Each on Two Aligarh Henchmen

A sub-inspector posted at Mathura's Chhatikara outpost, Shashank Kaushik, has been arrested and jailed for extorting local shopkeepers and running illegal parking. Police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for his two absconding accomplices.

The uniform meant to uphold the law became a tool for extortion in Mathura. Shashank Kaushik, a sub-inspector posted at the Chhatikara outpost under the Jait police station area of Uttar Pradesh's Mathura, was accused of squeezing money out of local shopkeepers and running an illegal parking operation. After an inquiry confirmed the charges, the police administration arrested him and sent him to jail.

It Began With Complaints

The case came to light when traders and shopkeepers of the area took their grievances to senior officers. Treating the repeated complaints seriously, top officials ordered a full inquiry into the matter — and what surfaced was startling.

Criminal Faces Summoned From Aligarh

The probe revealed that sub-inspector Shashank Kaushik had not built this extortion network alone. He allegedly brought in two men with criminal backgrounds from Aligarh to do the job. The two were identified as Rohtash alias Vishal and Chhotu Solanki. According to the allegations, both of them routinely pressured shopkeepers and businessmen to part with money.

FIR, Arrest and a Trip to Jail

Once the complaints were verified and sufficient evidence was gathered, a case was registered at the Jait police station on the complainant's written statement. Police then took the accused sub-inspector into custody and produced him before the court, which ordered him to be sent to jail — landing the uniformed accused behind bars.

Rs 25,000 Reward on Each Absconder

The two men named in the case, Rohtash alias Vishal and Chhotu Solanki, went on the run as soon as the matter broke and remain out of police reach. Officers are conducting continuous raids to nab them. To ensure their quick arrest, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mathura, has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each on the duo. Special police teams have also been deployed to track them down.

A Blunt Warning From the SSP

SSP Shlok Kumar made it clear that there is no place — at any level — for corruption or any kind of illegal activity within the department. He stressed that strict action would be taken against every officer and employee who tarnishes the image of the police. According to police, efforts to catch both absconding accused are ongoing, and they too will be arrested soon.
