The crackdown on criminals and mafia figures by the Police Commissionerate in Prayagraj has picked up pace once again. As part of this drive, the Industrial police station of the Yamunanagar Zone on Tuesday attached land belonging to former block chief and mafia figure Dilip Mishra, property that had been built up using wealth earned through crime. The action targeted immovable property located in Silaundhi Kala village, which falls under the Khiri police station area of Meja tehsil, and was carried out under the Gangster Act.
While attaching the property, the police made a public announcement at the site and put up a notice board so that local residents would be aware of the action.
How Much the Seized Property Is Worth
According to DCP Yamunanagar Zone Vivek Chandra Yadav, the estimated value of the attached land has been put at Rs 1 crore 11 lakh 24 thousand. The seizure was carried out under Section 14(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Gangster Act, on the orders of the Police Commissioner Court, Prayagraj.
The DCP said that a case is registered against Dilip Mishra at the Industrial police station as crime number 218/2 under the UP Gangsters and Anti Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986. During the probe led by the investigating officer, Inspector In Charge Naini, it emerged that gang leader Dilip Mishra had built up this immovable property with money earned through crime, by intimidating and threatening people on the strength of his fear and muscle power.
Land Registered in the Names of Relatives
The investigation also revealed that instead of keeping the property in his own name, Dilip Mishra had purchased it in the names of his sister-in-law Pushpa Mishra and her daughter-in-law Veera Mishra. On this basis, a report was submitted before the Police Commissioner seeking the attachment of the property under the Gangsters and Anti Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986.
The Police Commissioner Court held a swift hearing and, on the basis of records and evidence, passed the order for attachment. Following this, the Industrial police station team, led by DCP Yamunanagar Zone Vivek Chandra Yadav, reached the spot and completed the action. The court has appointed the station house officer of Khiri as the administrator to oversee the property.

Notably, a total of 54 criminal cases are registered against Dilip Mishra, and he is currently lodged in jail. The history sheeter is also named as an accused in the case relating to the remote bomb attack on Yogi government cabinet minister Nand Gopal Nandi.
