Police in Prayagraj's Yamunanagar zone have unravelled the triple murder that shook the area, and at the heart of the bloodshed lies a love affair gone wrong. According to investigators, when the family of the young woman the accused was obsessed with flatly refused his marriage proposal, he allegedly joined hands with his friends and brutally killed three elderly members of her family.
How the Crime Unfolded
The incident took place in Kukurkatwa village under the Meja police station limits. Late on Monday night, three elderly people from the same family were killed after being struck on the head with a heavy object. The victims were identified as 65-year-old Shyamlal alias Kallu, 62-year-old Amravati and 60-year-old Indravati. The two women who were killed were the wives of Shyamlal alias Kallu's brothers. According to Yamunanagar Zone DCP Vivek Chandra Yadav, the accused lover Himanshu Yadav, along with his two friends Nihal Gautam and Rajan, attacked all three on the head with a bamboo stake and took their lives.
Obsession With Marrying a Minor
The DCP said Himanshu Yadav wanted to marry the minor daughter of Shyamlal's brother. About four months earlier, in February, the couple had fled their homes, which sharply raised tensions in the village. Both families belong to the same village. At that time, village head Guddu Yadav had pressured the two sides into a compromise. Later, when the girl's relatives refused the marriage, Himanshu flew into a rage, and that fury culminated in the triple killing.
Phone Records and Social Media Gave Him Away
A named FIR was registered at the Meja police station on the complaint of the victims' family. Police then used technical and scientific evidence to close in on the accused quickly. An examination of the accused's mobile phone revealed that he had spoken with the deceased Shyamlal at around 10.15 pm on the night of the crime. In addition, photographs of the accused with the daughter of the victim's brother had been shared from the Facebook ID of Himanshu Yadav, who described himself as a Samajwadi Tiger, further confirming his intent.
Five Arrested, Weapon Recovered
Police have arrested a total of five people in the triple murder. Apart from Himanshu, Nihal and Rajan, who were directly involved in the killings, the arrests include the main accused's brother Ankit Yadav and village head Guddu Yadav. Ankit Yadav was held for allegedly helping the accused, while Guddu Yadav was arrested for brokering the compromise four months ago and failing to inform the police about it. The weapon used in the murders was also recovered at the instance of the accused.
Half-Encounter While Recovering the Weapon
According to DCP Vivek Chandra Yadav, after arresting the main accused, police had taken him near the bushes at Pairanipur to recover the murder weapon. During this, Himanshu Yadav snatched a sub-inspector's pistol and opened fire. In the retaliatory firing by police, the accused was shot in the leg. The injured Himanshu has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Case Solved in 12 Hours
Police cracked this grave case within just 12 hours. Himanshu and his two friends, Nihal and Rajan, are now in police custody. The madness of this failed love affair snuffed out the lives of one man and two women from the same family, but police, in a record-quick operation, put all the accused behind bars in very little time.
