Ayodhya's Ram Mandir is back in the headlines, but this time for reasons that are uncomfortable for the country. The offerings tied to the faith of millions of devotees became the target of a few people with bad intentions, and it is now emerging that a major irregularity has taken place in the temple's donations. The moment the matter surfaced, sharp statements began flying from both religious and political quarters. The state government has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case, and the saint community has since spoken out openly.
What Actually Happened
The cash pulled out of the donation boxes placed near Ramlala's sanctum and the darshan path is carried to a 'confidential room' built inside the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. For security reasons, the exact location of this room is kept strictly secret, and outsiders are completely barred from entering it. A total of 50 employees would be present inside this chamber to count the offerings. It is within this very arrangement that the theft took place, leaving everyone stunned.
The early estimates are alarming. There are fears that the theft could amount to more than 200 crore rupees. Around 50 employees connected to the counting of the notes are currently under the scanner. So far, police and investigating agencies have recovered roughly 2 crore rupees in cash, one car and 3 iPhones from 5 employees.
A Seer Flags the Possibility of a Bigger Conspiracy
Jagatguru Paramhans Acharya, the head of Ayodhya's Tapasvi Chhavni, has raised the possibility of a larger conspiracy behind the entire episode. Taking direct aim at SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he said the roles of both these leaders should also be investigated in the matter. He alleges that some lower-level employees were lured or pressured into carrying out such an incident, so that the image of the Ram Mandir, along with the central and state governments, could later be damaged.
Paramhans Acharya described it as a pre-planned conspiracy. According to him, its aim is to defame Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Ram Mandir Trust. He questioned why, while the investigation is still ongoing, the statements made by certain political leaders themselves raise so many questions. He said that those who have not even visited the Ram Mandir for darshan should be asked how and from where they obtained such detailed knowledge of the incident, adding that this too should be a subject of inquiry.
Demand for a Fair and Thorough Probe
The seer appealed to the state government and the investigating agencies to ensure the SIT conducts a completely fair probe that touches every angle. He said that if the involvement of any individual is exposed during the inquiry, strict action must be taken against them. He also demanded that every possible aspect of the case and all the allegations levelled be examined in depth, so that the truth can come before the public.
That said, it is important to clarify that no official evidence backing these allegations has been made public so far. The investigation is still underway, and the final picture will only become clear once the report of the investigating agencies arrives. Until the probe is complete, the truth behind the claims and allegations of all sides cannot be settled.
